No Ginobili and likely no Duncan. They can still be dangerous as they showed last night when they beat the Mavs. However, if we lose to them when they're missing 2 of their Big 3 it will be INEXCUSABLE! This is a big game and we need to get our bad road game play turned around. I'd like to see us use Bayless a significant amount of time and take it to Parker.
Re: We BETTER beat the Spurs tonight! It is a big game, but it would hardly make or break our season. Keep it in perspective. A win won't suddenly grant us the 2nd seed, and a loss wouldn't put us in the lottery. That being said, I think you're right in that we have a big opportunity to play a hot team without one or two of their top players, and it would be pretty disappointing if we didn't take advantage.
Re: We BETTER beat the Spurs tonight! Inexcusable? I disagree. The second game of a back to back. The Spurs are still the Spurs, even without Duncan and Manu. Fast guards that can penetrate to the hoop usually give us fits, and Tony Parker is the embodiment of that. I do agree that Bayless should see some time as I think he's got the best shot at staying in front of Parker. Hopefully they won't have a big hole to climb out of at halftime again. I think if they keep this game close they'll have a real shot at winning it in the end. This would be a huge win assuming we can then turn around and take care of business at home a few days later against the same squad.
Re: We BETTER beat the Spurs tonight! If we do win tonight, I'll put it my top five big wins for the season.
by 18 with Parker driving around Kidd all night. I'm sure they'll try to slow him down with most every wing and guard they have but I'd stick Batum on him in the 4th. I'm expecting another night of home team flop city and the refs playing along. Probably best for Nate to protect his best players foul wise in the first half and just try to hang around to be in position to win at the end. STOMP
Re: We BETTER beat the Spurs tonight! We should beat the hell out of them tonight. Outside of the Big 3 the Spurs talent is marginal in my opinion. We'll have size, speed, and youth against them tonight. To lose this game would be inexcusable imo.
Re: We BETTER beat the Spurs tonight! The Spurs almost beat Denver without any of their Big 3. That said, if we win this game, everyone will say it doesn't count because they didn't all play.
Re: We BETTER beat the Spurs tonight! Word is that Duncan will play tonight. I'm pretty sure that's what Wheels said this morning on The Game. Pop wanted to rest him the first game of the back to back. If we lose, be prepared for MIXUM and more of his troll threads.
Re: We BETTER beat the Spurs tonight! hah, hah. Awesome statement thats so true! I hope Nate puts Bayless on Tony Parker for a little bit. I sure hope Batum is on top of his game last night and throws in a few 3's like he did last night. ROY was 0-4 for 3's against the Rockets as I think he will be pressured (from Parker) and will only take short little jumpers instead.
Re: We BETTER beat the Spurs tonight! I heard this game was removed from the ESPN docket. Is it CSN only again?
Re: We BETTER beat the Spurs tonight! They punked Dallas last night with only Parker playing. The Spurs never roll over and die. I expect a very difficult game for Portland tonight, which a very small chance of a victory. I don't think Portland has won in SA since 2002.
Re: We BETTER beat the Spurs tonight! yah... lets watch for part 2 tonight. (parker plays brooks/wafer combo) mason as artest aldridge misses a 17ft jumper (clank) spurs defensive rebound parker makes driving layup sergio rodriquez shooting foul parker makes layup roy misses layup parker defensive rebound mason makes 24 foot three point jump shot
Re: We BETTER beat the Spurs tonight! That's too bad that the Spurs don't require a player to participate in one practice after missing a game, while we do with when it comes to G.O. Damn... but if we can pull this one out, that'd be huge.
Re: We BETTER beat the Spurs tonight! See I think the exact opposite, there is nothing inexcusable about losing to a team from Texas on their homecourt. The Spurs have multiple championship rings and know how to play through injuries and win. The injuries give us a better chance but this is still going to be a very difficult game for the Blazers. The good news is that eventually the Blazers were able to give themselves a chance to win at the last second last night just like Houston did at the Rose Garden. It tells me the Blazers legitimately deserve to be in the play off discussions... they're able to compete effectively with the other play off teams... but WE NEED HOMECOURT to have any chance in the play offs and that's the case for the Rockets as well.
Duncan out tonight With knee tendinitis. Hopefully we will capitalize! http://blogs.mysanantonio.com/weblogs/courtside/2009/02/duncan-has-tend.html
