With Andre Smith screwing the pooch at the combine, and everyone is saying Aaron Curry is the best player in the draft. LB is a postion of need (What isnt) So why not take the best player?

Curry does make some sense....I think it is important to get past the "1st overall pick" stigma and just choose the best player....I know a lot of people think that only a QB can be worth that 1st pick, but I dont buy into that rationale....pick the player you have a conviction on at #1, do it again at #20, do it again at #33, and keep it going the rest of the draft and you will be fine, football politics be damned....

Think about this scenario: Curry at 1, Rey Maualuga at 20, Michael Johnson at 33, Macho Harris at 65, Kevin Ellison at 82....You now have a defense that is lightning fast and super athletic....you have the best young LB core in the league with Sims, Rey, and Curry.....Michael Johnson is a prototype rush end for the 4-3....Harris and Ellison bring some attitude to the secondary....You can get by with a game managing QB if you can run it and stop everyone, and all the sudden, the defense is ridiculously talented....5 of the top 82 picks is golden opportunity to get better in a hurry....
