San Antonio 0-1 in Rose Garden. Suns 0-1 in Rose Garden. Jazz 0-1 in Rose Garden. Rockets 0-1 in Rose Garden. Go Blazers
Weren't you guaranteeing a win today? And I clearly remember them beating us in the garden last year.
I was hoping we'd win, yes. Sucks that we didn't. As for your second comment, I was obviously only referring to this year and this team.
You were pretty confident.... Optimism is nice, but it's starting to get more annoying than the MIXUM posts since you post it after every game, win or lose.
But we are actually doing fine. 5th best record in the West. 8th best in the NBA. No, we are not winning all the big games, but if we WERE, we'd be winning the championship this season and no one really thinks that this season. Of course, we lose a couple games in Texas! Those are two tough places to play in. But we beat em in our building so it's even. There is a lot to be optimistic about.
He posts this after every game. It's always "Outlaw was SO clutch tonight, even though we lost" "Don't worry, we are still better than every team!" I think eternal pessimists are annoying, but the eternal optimist is getting even worse.
Ummm this post was of hard cold facts, not opinion. ANd I never said that we are better than every team, but we ARE better than 22 of them. That is a FACT! Learn the game, then post. Seriously.
It's pretty clear what you're trying to do, trying to insert optimism after losses. Some people don't feel happy after a loss, regardless of how it happened, but apparently you do.
We are in 5th, yes, but our road woes have got to stop...I really don't want to get embarrassed on national tv during the playoffs, so I am glad we are 13 games over .500...but not thrilled with our play of late.
I enjoy Eric's enthusiasm... it's certainly better than the alternative. But we certainly have some issues to deal with, and it wouldn't surprise me if we beat San Antonio in our building, even if they have Duncan back.
You could also look at it as we got blown out in Texas, and the Rockets and SA both lost on last second shots in Portland. Houston on a 35 foot prayer at the buzzer, and SA on a wide open 10 jumper by Finley that goes in 99 out of 100 times.
Man, you beat me to this. I was just getting ready to type the same exact thing. I was also thinking that the win vs Phoenix at home was only a win b/c Brandon Roy, as good as he is, had a CAREER night with 52 points. I was at that game and Phoenix outplayed us for the most part - I think they shot about 65% on threes. But Brandon was just unconscious. If you were a fan of the Rockets, Spurs, Or Suns, you might look at those losses at Portland sort of like how we look at the losses to the Clippers and Majic. You know, games we "gave" away. If the playoffs started today, I don't think we would beat any team in the top 8 seeds in a series. Especially w/o home court advantage. Maybe we'll get better. Did anybody else notice how sound SA's defense was last night? I mean, Tony Parker ate us up - no doubt. But they just play amazing defense. That's how, despite no Manu/TD they were able to blow us out. Granted, we had no post pressence last night - but they closed out on our shooters so quickly. There just weren't many good looks at all. When you look at their team, it's not a team of great individual defensive players (except for Bowen, TD) Guys like Finley, Mason, Oberto just come in and they don't miss a beat. It's the commitment that team makes to defense (IMO) It's really impressive to watch. No way, on paper, that team should have blown out Dallas and Portland w/o two of their best three players. But when you hold Dallas to 76 points and Portland to 84 in back to back nights . . . you give youself a good chance to win. I don't see us grinding out games like that yet, and that's how you win in the playoffs. You can't shoot 47% + every night. You have to be able to shoot a paltry 39% sometimes and grind out a 82-81 win. Maybe we'll get there someday.
