So for people out there that say we lost this game..... Houston for example........ it proves that we should of made a trade or we'll never make the playoffs, or we should have drafted so-n-so, etc. The Rockets just beat the Cavs by 20. I don't think it means much. Any team can beat any other team on any given night baby. Clipps over Celtics last night. I wonder what MIXUM would be saying on the Celtic or Cavs forum!
Yup Texas is a big state to take down. Watching the Cavs get their asses kicked tonight definitely made me feel better about the Blazers level of play
It's not about what other teams do. It's about what the Blazers do. Surely I agree the season isn't about one game. But much of the discussion lately isn't about one game. It's about the Blazers play in general. They have been beating bad teams at home, and losing on the road. It wasn't that long ago they lost to GS right before the all star break. That is a shitty team. If you can't win on the road there, you are going to struggle everywhere.
Actually, that's false. Win-loss streaks are far less important than they are made to seem. They tend to get more focus than they deserve only because they make great soundbites and headlines, but they don't even come close to defining a season.
Christmas Lakers-Blazers a few years ago? Outlaw's one buzzerbeater is the only reason last season was considered a success. that streak prob. wouldn't have haappened w/o it.
I disagree. Good teams will rip out several win streaks during a year. Those win streaks represent the consistency of play of the team. Teams that tend to win a game or two and then lose one or two, tend to be exactly that. .500 teams who struggle.
Think bigger. Good teams go on winning streaks because they are good teams. The streaks don't actually mean anything. They are winning single games every night. If the Lakers go on a 5 game losing streak right now it will mean absolutely nothing. The only time a streak actually means anything is in a K.O. tournament where you have to win.... like the NCAA tournament for example.
You are comparing a team with one single streak and a bunch of sub .500 ball to teams to teams that regularly run off 6+ in a row several times a year. What do you think it bought us? A single streak doesn't make a team consistent, unless that somehow last all season long.
So, what you're saying is that individual games and streaks don't really matter that much, it's what happens over the course of the entire season? Agreed.
You could go on 3-1 streaks all season long and have an amazing record but you never would have had a significant streak. Streaks mean nothing. Wurd
