Going to serve the rest of his time at home. What is your opinion on his sentence? I thought it was a bit rediculous to be honest....don't think much about dog fighting.
This won't endear me to PETA, I'm sure... But we have child rapists, armed robbers and many others (to say absolutely zero about drug abusers) who get much less jail time than someone killing his own animals for pleasure. He's paid more than a price (for me) for his crimes. It blows my mind that this man was more vilified for doing the dogfighting than people who embezzle billions, rape children or distribute drugs. Just my $.02
That's a completely fair point. However, I would say that it's not the action itself, but rather what the action speaks of his character. Abusing an animal is up there with abusing children--it's exerting power in a cruel fashion over the powerless.
I'm not saying he's innocent, Maxie, I'm saying that (iirc) a little over a year in prison and now some period of home detention seems much higher a price to pay than the sentence many get for actually hurting people. I wasn't in Portland at the time; did Qyntel Woods' admission garner this type of attention, jail time or financial cost?
Home time is not prison time. Especially not Michael Vick' home. http://www.sportshometribune.com/images/michael-vick-selling-georgia-home.jpg Preposterous to suggest so. Either keep him in prison or be honest about the fact you are setting him free.
I think it's bullshit. I'm a zoology major so animals are sort of my life. I'd honestly call the cops on my own brother if I found out he was doign that type of crap, or abusing any animal for that matter. So I think it's B.S.
He's had a lot of his life destroyed, which he definitely deserves. I do think there are better uses of public resources than paying for Vick's jail time. But I don't understand why it costs so much to keep criminals in jail, if I were in charge they'd be a bunch of slaves that the government profits from.
