I honestly think it's worse than the organization is letting on. They are literally scared shitless of the impact of "Oden needs knee surgery" headline. Honestly, if they would have gotten that shit scoped immediately after they discovered the bone chip, he would be back this week. -Pop
Well I'm going to just consider him done for the season and move on. We know it's coming so let's focus on our active team!
That's a lot of must haves with zero evidence to support them. Dude, we've been the up and coming team for a year now. How is that sad and tired? Just because you've got serious anger management issues doesn't mean we're going nowhere in the next 10 years. Christ.
Yardape - that's a very impressive diagnosis considering you have no idea what you're talking about. Seriously, the laz-y-boy doctors in here need to sit down and let the experts handle it.
Oden is not a deal breaker for making the playoffs to begin with. We all know this. He might help a little against the bad teams, but honestly the good teams will have him out of the game by 2 quarter till his skills advance. If he's hurt, send him to PDX tonight and scope him so Joel might have some help in May. Quit dicking around with it and get it done!
All I saw when I opened the post was this still picture with an animated mouth chomping up and down. I am sadly easily scared.
Guess putting ice on it on hoping it goes away has really worked well! HA! Sorry for thinking to much for ya BlazerBeav. If it turns out he has degenerative bone issues like brittle bone disease, do you come on this board and pronounce yourself an ass too?
I love this spin everyone has on this. First he was milking the injury, now Nate doesn't like what he sees when Greg runs. If he didn't have any fire, would he have limped around for a full quarter when he initially sprained his ankle. Anyone else moving like that would have left the fucking game. Then he has Magette the king of flops barrel into his knee. He still came back and played after that and did quite well. You can question whether he's injury prone, but I don't know how anyone can question his heart. I guess because he isn't a "badass" like Garnett or an arrogant ass like Kobe means he doesn't care. Blazers fans are fucking lame.
Um for you to put Oden in the same sentence with Kobe or KG shows who's really lame here! When Oden has one game where he puts up 50 or has a ring than we can call out Kobe or KG... K? Kobe scores 55 while hooked to an IV at halftime fighting 102 temp and the flu! That's heart!
Kent Brockman: Professor, would you say it's time for our viewers to panic? Professor: Mmm, yes I would, Kent.
I'm not worried at all Minstrel, in fact I'm elated! Here's why! I was worried that it might be hard to resign ROY, LA, RUDY, BAYLESS, BATUM and of couse ODEN. Now that Oden has had both knees gone south we wont have to worry about maxing him. This because no other team in the NBA is going to throw their whole bank account at a player that hasn't actually played a full year and will now have an injury prone tag on him. If Greg pans out and I hope he does, we get him at a FEAR DISCOUNT and our hub will be in place for years to come. Win! Win!
Confusing logic. First, there was never a worry about being able to re-sign all the players. Portland will have all their Bird rights and the ability to pay the most. Oden becoming a superstar is definitely the thing to hope for. It won't make it harder to retain him, unless he desires to sign for less money elsewhere. Second, he's not going to be a free agent for several years. If Oden "pans out" in that time, he'll still definitely be maxed out. Having injury troubles now isn't going to change that, if he's healthy and playing at a high level by the end of his rookie contract. That said, his injuries, while annoying, aren't really a big deal. None of them seem to be career-altering and I don't think he's going to be lost for the rest of the season. Missing games now is a shame, but when he returns I expect that he and the team will continue to improve. The Blazers are a significantly better team with Oden.
Why is this a concern? Paul Allen has enough money to re-sign his entire roster to max. contracts for the next 100 years - if he so chooses. It's not like somebody is going to outbid him for any player he considers worth keeping. Under the current CBA he can offer his own players more money, longer contracts and bigger raises than any other team - which is what he will do for anyone he desires to keep. BNM
Andrew bynum is out for a legit injury. Oden is just a pussy P.S that baby in your avatar has 2 chins.....you gotta feed her healthy
The bottom line is that Bynum has had major surgeries on both knees. How many more major injuries? How many more missed games? He's just like Sam Bowie. He could have had a great career, but injuries are going to end his career early. Come to think of it, on the injury front, you're right. Andrew Bynum is no Sam Bowie--he's Bill Walton.
