ABM, I find your infatuation with Greg to be quite curious. Maybe you should quote the whole blog instead of taking one or two sentences that take the whole qoute out of context. By your standards, he should have no other interest othern than playing basketball. Christ man, let the dude live.

I want to see him play...so does Nate, so do many others. Like I had indicated, when he says, "I'm gonna have to suck it up", then we hear he's not playing......yet again (see: Spurs @ RG)......what am I supposed to conclude?...especially since (it appears to me) he's more than focused on the dance stuff.

How does it appear he's more focused on the dance stuff when 95% of his entry was dedicated to talking about rehab/his injury/getting back on the court? Wow.

OK, then, how might you define his phrase, "suck it up"? What does that say to you? It almost says to me that him coming back might be more dependent upon his frame of mind (attitude), as opposed to what his body (physically) might be telling him. In that case, I gather it would then boil down to threshholds of pain....or lack thereof.

I suppose, then, I should just suck it up and accept what is as being what is. :)

I think I'm pulling for the guy as hard as anyone and also can't wait to see him play again. Dumping on him isn't going to make him start playing again. If he doesn't have his normal stride like Nate said, it's possible he may still be hurting, no??? Looking around at the posts around the forums, you would have thought the guy killed someone's dog. This isn't Derek Anderson part II with a toothache, as far as I can tell. If the guy was a complete pussy, he wouldn't have came back in either game that he got injured. I'm wondering more about the training staff than Greg at this point, especially since they've shown a history of shoddy medical evaluations leading to further injuries to our players.

It seems pretty clear to me, he's sitting in a hotel room writing a blog post while watching MTV. Would you rather have him blogging from a strip club while getting a lap dance?

Not really. When he says he needs to suck it up, though, I'd like to see him suck it up......................beginning, say, tomorrow?

Or a dentist. His statement just adds fuel to the conspiracy theorists claims that he really hurt his knee playing Dance, Dance, Revolution.

Why not quit picking about what he said in a blog post and just see how it all plays out. I know you're a big fan and a really nice guy but you constantly picking apart Oden in multiple forums is getting old.

So, don't read them, then. Yes, I'm a fan, and a really nice guy. I also think Oden needs to put his money where his mouth is. Frankly, I think his blog is where he's the sincerest.

LMAO, wow dude, you're not nearly as touchy in person.

Oden did suck it up and practiced. Nate, the coach, saw him trying running up and down the court and shut it down. Even if he wanted to "suck it up" and play it sounds like the coach of the team doesn't want him to play against the Spurs.

I find it at least curious that Nate would "shut him down." I sincerely wonder what all went into that chain of events.

I totally get what you're saying and it might be wishful thinking on my part but I think he meant he was going to have to suck it up and play when he's still in a lot of pain. I'm sure he's especially gun shy about his knees after the micro fracture experience and part of his hesitation is fear of injury. He's a very young man and the Blazers have probably babied him a little too much. I think he'll learn to play in pain and understand when it's an injury and when it's just an ache. There couldn't be a better role model for him playing through injuries than Joel. I really think he'll come around and grow into the center we're all hoping for. He just needs more than one season to get there.

Chain of events? Again I think it's much simpler than you're making it, he sees Oden gimping up and down the court. It's painful to watch. He tells him to please stop.

Im gonna have to suck it up quick cause the end of the reagular season is coming to a end quick. On another note im watching MTV's America's Best Dance Crew and Qwest Crew better win they're sick!

    ~Greg Oden

    Translation:

I'm going to have to recover quickly to be ready for the playoffs. On another note, I like Qwest crew on this TV show.

I don't get this over analysis. Somehow, you get from this that Oden isn't committed? You have no patience- it's his first season back from Microfracture and he's young- give him time. As I've mentioned before, the picks that didn't pan out, never showed the flashes that Greg has shown in this season. His per minute averages (except fouls) are very very promising.

bright people often have more then one interest in life... and Greg happens to like a TV show.

    Concern here seems very misplaced

ABM, you're trying to read too much into what he's saying. I know we're all anxious to see him play, but the body is on its own schedule.

Sorry, but I don't really equate Greg as being necessarily bright. Funny and fun, but certainly not the brightest bulb on the porch. My opinion only. Strictly based upon the number of blog entries I've read over the past couple of years.

OK, I'm done with all this. I'm sure I've pursued this folly far enough. ;)

    Cheers.
