Please tell me where I insulted anyone. I gave my observations on Travis, which I said was positive tonight. I didn't call anyone a moron did I? If I think someone observes the game or a specific player with blinders on, I can say it. Get off your high horse, it's old.
Two games in a row. Since Roy got on everyone. Looks like they got their focus back. They can beat anyone if they play like they did tonite. Of course the road is still going to be a problem, but we have a lot of home games ahead. Take care of them and we'll be sitting nice!
good grief dude. I bolded your needless insult and referred to it several times. I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt that you are now playing dumb, and thats not a game I like to play. If you really have questions feel free to PM me but this is silly STOMP
Not to be one of the guys that downplays every win, but the Blazers didn't really win this game as well some would like to think. They still shot a bunch of jumpshots. Fortunately, they happened to go in. Looking at the shot chart, we had about 8 field goals in the paint. We won't win championships like that. Aside from that, they won on the defensive side and free throw battle so it looks like they would've won the game regardless if the jumper was going in or not.
awesome win! Hopefully the Blazers look at this game and bring at least something of the same defensive intensity every night. This team will be dangerous at home in the playoffs..... HCA
Well, I'm glad Duncan played. The win is that much cooler considering Aldridge crushed Duncan utterly, to the point that Duncan may never recover and play well again. Well, maybe not quite to that extent...but still, the win feels better considering the Spurs had Duncan. This team is like day and night when it comes to where they play. Home court advantage in the first round would be huge.
We moved the ball around and hit a lot of open shots. Lot easier to hit them when we are open. I agree, it'd be a tighter game if we didn't hit as many jumpers, but the D we played is really encouraging.
The story of the game was the defense. That was THE best defense the Blazers have played all year. And in the second half, when the shots stopped falling, their defense kept the Spurs from going on a run. I seriously hope they don't let up and continue this aggressive play.
That's not a very impressive criticism. They're a very good shooting team. They win when their shots fall and lose when they don't, but since they shoot well as a team, their shots fall most of the time and thus they win most of the time. It's not like they got lucky or something. It's more the case that not shooting well is "unlucky," since they're quite good at it.
that definitely was a fun win. At home Aldridge seems so much more aggressive on both ends. I'm doubting he got much into Timmy D's head as TD was probably mainly looking to shake the rust off after missing a few games, but it's got to be good for the Blazers team psyche to click like this verses a contender STOMP
I'm sorry I don't impress you. And I'm sorry if you're content with the Blazers being a jump shooting team. Elite teams don't win by jump shots alone. They play inside-out basketball and grind it out on defense. The Blazers did well with the latter this game. They disrupted a very disciplined Spurs offense that is usually pretty consistent. But with that good defense they should have an easier time on the other side getting it inside the paint to score instead of relying on jump shooting. Yes, they had a pretty decent amount of good looks that should've went in, which meant they should have won this game. But there will be days when that shot doesn't go in, and the Blazers haven't learned to adjust against good teams. Especially with Aldridge, Outlaw, and Frye always falling in love with the jumper all the time. If it doesn't turn out to be a hot shooting night for Roy and Aldridge, should they think, "Oh well, it's not falling. We'll get them next time"? Jumpshots will always be heavily chance-based, while inside scoring is more for sure. There's no such thing as a for sure shot (dunks can get blocked or in-and-out), but there is definitely such thing as a higher percentage shot. We usually settle for the lower percentage shots and hope it goes in. Because we're good, it usually will. But if you honestly believe continually playing this style and keeping these habits is going to be good for the long run, then you got another thing coming. I hope you don't expect the shot to fall "most of the time" in a seven game series for four rounds in a row to win us a championship.
great win, just glad we hung on. Roy and LMA were flawless. Wanted more Bayless. Rudy is getting too reckless. Joel is so invaluable to this team. Travis was off tonight but his rebounding was great Batum still needs to be more consistent from 3 Steve makes us great when he is on Finally, DEFENSE Knew Parker wasn't THAT good, he came down to earth tonight
Funny, but I thought that's exactly what we did. We took it inside and kicked it out for open shots. We didn't only settle for jumpers, we took inside shots which led to baskets and foul shots. We got a lot of easy baskets off of our D. Against a very good veteran team. I'm very happy about the game and as long as we play D like we did tonite we'll be in every game even if our shot isn't falling.
I noticed that too, and that is a good point. However, even though that is sort-of playing inside, it still relies on the jumpshot to follow through. I don't see why some of the Blazers haven't learned to follow Roy or whoever drives in so that when they dish out, they can have an open lay up or dunk. That's one of the main criticisms of the team, we're labeled as "soft". When no other big aside from Oden and Priz want to rebound or get bumped inside, that label isn't totally wrong. It kills me watching our bigs standing there waiting for the ball instead of moving off the ball to get better inside shots.
