Am I the only one who thinks Nate should call Batum's number? I think if he had some plays run for him we might see a much more aggressive Batum. He's got the ability to be a good scorer in the L.
He has a hard enough time when he is wide up with no one guarding him and half the time he even passes those opportunities up. I wouldn't call his number.
He's timid most of the time. But when he's confident, he's a major weapon. I remember he was pissed about not starting against the Lakers in the season opener, then the next time we played in LA, Batum went off. He had one of his best games. Good players rise to the occasion when their backs are against the wall. I just think that by calling his number that he would be more aggressive on both ends of the floor.
we need to have Outlaw sit where the players sit when they're ready to go in but not let him in, maybe just in 4th quarters but always have that threat to Batum. I think it was against the Spurs or maybe the T-Wolves that Outlaw was about to come in and Batum looked not-so-happy about going to the bench, but then, the refs wouldn't allow the substitution and Batum stayed in the game for like 2 more minutes of brilliant play. But shhhh... he's a secret.
His defensive instincts and overall basketball IQ are extremely promising for a player as young as Batum. On top of that, he has a great feel for the game. He's already our best perimeter defender. Behind Roy/Aldridge (and fucking hopefully, Oden), he's the most exciting long-term prospect.
Designing some plays for him would hopefully get him better shot attempts. I think he has the athleticism, intelligence and shooting ability to do well in some designed plays.
