Except everybody still calls him a gym rat. I agree he has sucked but maybe its something besides a lack of effort. Nobody has ever questioned his work ethic and you know Kobe would if Sasha was slacking
But he was a gym rat before his contract year, too. Just because your a gym rat doesn't mean your a good player. Sasha has been horrible this year, right? He was pretty bad before his contract year, too. I hope he can turn it around and I think some playing time on the floor with Kobe could turn it around for him, but I don't know. I'm disappointed with him. illmatic convinced me that Sasha was for real last year, after I refused to believe it. Now he hasn't said shit about Sasha this year. :] Look at the bright side, if he doesn't work out, we've only got two more years left of him. Maybe we can package him and Morrison's expiring K next year if things don't get better.

I don't care if he's a gym rat. Jordan Farmar is supposedly a gym rat as well, and he has played like shit for the majority of the season, just like Sasha. The definition of a contract year player, is a player who shows up his contract year, and puts up beautiful numbers, signs a big contract, and then falls off the face of the earth. Sounds like Sasha to me, except he isn't a contract year player, he's a... what, 3 month contract player? Considering he only played well for like 3 months of the season last year, after Mo was traded. I don't care what abnormal, or extra terrestrial circumstances are out there. He's a contract "year" player until he proves otherwise. Luckily for us, Mitch was smarter this time, and at least signed him to a trade-able contract, unlike Luke's.
