In his career to date, Oden has appeared in 46 games out of a possible 141. Those are numbers that would embarass Sam Bowie or Pervis Ellison. Nonetheless, you stated that "knowledgeable" fans wouldn't be concerned or upset. I'm simply asking you when you believe it is legit to take injuries into account when evaluating a player. 3 years in the league? 5 years? I'm not trying to be sarcastic - it is a serious question. You believe some of us are being unreasonable with our expectations.....but what do you consider a "reasonable" timeline?
Greggers just seems like the type that's in it for fame/money than anything. Going to the Playboy mansion was a joke. He can only ride his hype train for so long.
We don't even know when that picture was taken, it could be from high school or college. And who hasn't done something really naive and stupid when they were 20? This reminds me of the Michael Phelps thing, people are talking about prosecuting him for that bong picture when they can't even prove there was anything illegal in it.
I actually agree with you. Oden's personal/social life has nothing to do with the concerns being raised. Al Davis used to say he wanted 2 things from his players: show up on time and make plays. That's all I ask from Oden.
Sometimes reading a message forum can be a surreal experience, no drugs or South American tree frogs needed.
You know, it seems like we have 2 camps on here that aren't speaking the same language. For the record, I never "hated" Sam Bowie. By all accounts, he was a nice guy (and arguably the smartest player on the team). That doesn't change the fact that trading him made the Blazers a better team. By the same token, I don't "hate" Oden.....I doubt many people here do. That doesn't mean I wouldn't trade him if the right deal came along. There may be times that Oden's critics are "unreasonable"...but there are also times his supporters are too defensive. I'll promise to chill out if the other side will!
Mike and Mike cant be this bad? can they? <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/FSZS6sRVWsk&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/FSZS6sRVWsk&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>
Yes, but after two years off of basketball, he DOMINATED in his rookie year: 24.3 ppg, 12.0 rpg, 3.9 bpg, 1.7 spg, 2.0 apg And his team improved its record by 35 games! So what's Oden's excuse for not being that good. MF Surgery? The guy had a year to recover and, going into the season, said his knee was fine. Even if we give Oden another year to recover, do you really see the potential in Greg to do what David Robinson did? I'm sorry to say it but I don't. My hopes is that Oden will become a 12 & 12 guy with a couple blocks a game. Essentially, that's Beidrins. Not the best center in a generation. It sucks.
What a bunch of fucking babies. Get your bottles ready, shit. Chill the fuck out on Oden, and have a little more patience.
People bitch about GO all the time, yet Bynum has shown he has had much worse knee joints than Greg. Also, Oden has shown more in his first significant playing time than Bynum had.
At the age of 24, in his career to date, Joel Przybilla had appeared in 158 games out of a possible 410. Those are numbers that would embarrass Sam Bowie or Pervis Ellison. Nonetheless, you stated that "knowledgeable" fans wouldn't be concerned or upset. So what? Why are you comparing Greg to a mediocre center like Bynum? I thought Oden was going to be a once in his generation center?
