He has played "fine." Fouling out of games and putting up 4pts & 2 rebs vs the Thunder is not "playing extremely well." Yes, he's had his good games, but he is extremely inconsistent, even for a rookie. Look at David Robinson's rookie season. THAT is "playing extremely well."
For the season, he's played very well. Outside of the fouls. I know that one game against the Thunder made Oden dead to you (for this season), but he did play a few other games. Honest. Some great, some bad, with his averages being very productive.
He had other bad games. He has grabbed less than 5 rebounds in 15 games this season. If he was playing "extremely well," he'd be a contender for Rookie of the Year. But, as of now, he's not.
I already said that. He's also had great games. The averages are what matter, and those are very good. No, he hasn't played enough to be ROY contender. I said that he's played very well when healthy, other than fouls. Fouls and health I'm not contesting have been problems for him this year, and those are what are preventing him from being a top ROY candidate.
Wrong by one GAME. (I said he missed most of his games in his first two years - he missed exactly half.) You were wrong by an entire year. CHECKMATE!
