The Spurs picked up Drew Gooden today, and it seems like the Cavs and Joe Smith agreed to terms today as well, so my question is will they be able to play for there teams in the playoffs? I remember there was a big contreversy over wether or not Boston was going to be able to land Stephon Marbury before Sunday, so that he would be eligible to play for us come playoff time. Since it is now Wednesday, does that mean Gooden, and Smith will not be able to play in the playoffs?

Yeah I didn't get that rule either, first they said Marbury has to be signed by Sunday to be able to play in the playoffs.

So I really don't know the question. But welcome to S2 gocelts3411 :)

The rule is that the player can play in the playoffs as long as they are waived/bought out by March 1st, I'm pretty sure.

As long as they were bought out in time, they'd be good to go. Otherwise, I doubt Cleveland or San Antonio would waste money on them.

Maybe we can convince PJ Brown to sign with us :]

I'm sure he knows Boston, well.

I wouldn't mind bringing in a guy like PJ Brown. He'd definitely give us some nice big man depth and prevent us from having to use Mbenga too much.

I have to disagree Mamba, and just assume that you're joking. Brown > Mbenga. He actually gives us someone with some ability on offense aside from put backs. He's also rock solid defensively, despite his age, and gives us some very good veteran leadership.
