Aaron Brooks. Mark it down, AB beat the Suns tonight. Great game and great finish. Brooks with a career high with 30. We may look back on this game as what got us in the playoffs.
Sidebar: I'm really impressed with Denver thus far tonight. That Birdman dude is a lot better than I had thought.
What amazes me is that there are many Blazer fans who stated they wanted PHX to win tonight. I just don't understand that mentality at this point in time in terms of making the playoffs.
And they're doing this IN Utah. I think I just dislike some of the Denver players so much I have a hard time believing the team will succeed.
I agree. I think this game was huge. It might be a back breaker for the Suns. (As long as SA hold serve on Sunday) A win by the Suns would have given them new life. Keep them down as long as possible.
Yeah, that's insane. As far as I'm concerned everybody behind us needs to lose every night, and if that means rooting for the Celtics and Lakers to get the job done, then so be it.
They balance out the "we-lost-to-Denver-last-night-and-clearly-we've-been-eliminated-from-the-play-offs-for-this-season-and-probably-for-the-next-3-or-4-as-well-and-GO-is-a-bust" Blazer fans.
I prefer to think of it as rooting for a loss to the Celtics and Lakers... I can't formally root for them, it just makes me feel dirty.
Not that I get too much consolation from it, but Denver trouncing the Jazz in Utah makes our loss last night seem a little better. First of all, those kind of losses are going to happen. Any team, and I mean ANY team, could go into Denver on the second night of a back to back and lose. I expected it. But, they are killing Utah right now. It puts our loss in perspective a bit. Denver seems energized with Carmello back and looking to prove himself. The one thing I do know: This playoff race is going to be fun. No matter where we come out in the end, it will be fun to bite nails and scoreboard watch for the rest of the season. That is what being a fan is about, and boy has it been awhile.
Yeah, I think I spoke too soon. When I wrote my last post, Denver was up big. They are down now. It is still "anyone's" game, but, given that Utah has come back from a deficit, have the momentum, and are playing at home, they probably take this one.
I wanted Phoenix to win. The mentality is pretty simple, really. I think there is a better chance of Portland finishing above Houston than below Phoenix - especially if Phoenix would have won tonight.
I have been watching NBA basketball for 40 years and it still amazes me how the calls differ from one night to the next. Denver is not getting any of the calls that they got last night at home. Jazz on the other hand... well their home court advantage is well documented.
I'm still rooting for Phoenix to lose the rest of their games regardless of who they play, just so we get closer to clinching that playoff berth, and get closer to seeing that franchise tank and go into disarray after what they did to TP.
I'm actually hope PHX makes it to the playoffs and Dallas doesn't. PHX will sell the 20th or so pick...I don't think DAL would
