The Detroit Lions have signed free agent Quarterbacks, Jon Kitna and Luke McCown. This meqns that the Joey Harrington era is over in Detroit. The Lions are expected to release or trade joey within a week or two, which would clear up some cap space to help sign some defensive help.My question to you guys is, if you had a choice, who would you start, Kitna, or McCown?I like Luke McCown. I think that under Mike Martz as offensive coordinator he can achieve alot with the talented recievers we have and the developing Kevin jones in the backfield. I think this year without Joey, and with Martz, the Lions have a legit chance to make the playoffs.
I thought we got Josh McCown, but maybe I'm wrong.I have two words to say about this.First is AMEN. :boogie:   :worthy: :worthy: Second is Playoffs........maybe.
Nice signings, but I would start Kitna. He's a proven QB and is very underated. Either way, both of them should be an upgrade over Harrington.
Yeah SunnyD your right its Josh McCown. This has to be an improvement to the joey/jeff tandom of last year. Joey is gone. Hopefully they will do well in Detroit and we can get somone to get the ball to all of the receivers we have.

I will be in a retirement home when the Detroit Lions reach the playoffs.
^When go through 4 seasons of Joey Harrington, you get excited for any QB not named Joey Harrington to play for the Lions.
Your whole team sucks terribly and all the media and Lions fans do is rip on Joey Harrington constantly. When you don't have an offensive line and WR's that run routes it can be difficult to be a good QB. I'm not saying Harrington is great but I think everyone singles him out too much because he's the pretty boy QB...etc.
They have alot of talented young recievers. That's not the problem. Knowing them they will probably draft Santonio Holmes lol.
Those talented WR's are a big problem and one of the reasons Joey Harrington has gotten the shaft. Charles Rogers when he isn't drunk doesn't run routes and seem to care. Roy Williams lives off his athletic ability and doesn't run routes or try hard to get open. And Mike Williams coming off a year without playing football couldn't get separation last year.

McCown and Kitna clearly will not get the job done, neither will Jeff Garcia, they should trade one of those recievers, a pick, and maybe some defensive talent to get a higher draft pick like Matt Leinard.
I like your ideas about the trading up, however we need to trade p to get D'Brickishaw Ferguson. He would be a fresh start to rebuilding that offensive line of ours.
You don't trade up for an offensive linemen when this draft is littered with great LT prospects.<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>All those recievers you just mentioned are talented, Joey Harrington sucks and the Lions have no offensive line, with a good QB/line the Lions could have a great offense. He has talent, he was the third pick for a reason. This guy has had no support from day one, no offensive line, no WR's, come on.

You just said he had no offensive line and why wouldn't you draft an offensive lineman? Do you think Brady would have done the job he did without a fantastic offensive line. It all starts with that. The Pats drafted Logan Mankins last year with their first round pick and he did an excellent job for us.And just because Harrington was drafted high doesn't mean he's a good quarterback. He has 60 TD and 62 INT in 4 seasons and a career QB rating of 69.4.....he makes tons of mistakes when you watch him too.
They need an offensive line but this draft has plently of LT prospects so their is no need to waste picks and trade up.
You have to start Kitna! He is a winner man, he can get the job done and light a fire under that under acheiving Lions team! But we cant put all the blame on Joey man! The WR's drop more passes than any team in the league! I honestly think Hellen Keller could of went and caught more passes than any of the WR's on the lions!
