Not at all. I just don't get off on watching a player get smashed to the floor over and over. Apparently you do, though your excuse of trying to get to the bottom of the play like its the fucking Zapruder Film is pretty good. I really could fucking care less where Ariza's eyes were pointed, if he grabbed Rudy, of if he didn't know how bad Rudy had been hurt after the play. The FACTS are that Rudy was taken out of the RG on stretcher because a punk thug on your favorite collection of dicks hit him in mid air. Everything else is subjective. That single, undeniable fact is why Ariza should have been ejected and why he should have been suspended. I am sickened by the fact he wasn't suspended, but I should have expected it. After all, Ariza IS a Laker.
I'm a huge Blazers homer, but I must admit I really DO NOT think Ariza meant to do anything but prevent Rudy from dunking the shit out of the ball at the end of the quarter, which would have sent the already crazy Rose Garden crowd into a frenzy. Yes he hit Rudy in the head but that was in the process of swiping at the ball. For those of you who say, "BUT HE CONTINUED TO PULL RUDY'S HAND DOWN!!@#$Q#@%!#@%$#@," you must have never played basketball or have no concept of physics. They were both running as fast as they could and there is something called momentum. Their arms got tangled due to the fact that Rudy's arms were flailing because he had just been stripped/hit in the head and Ariza's arm got tied up in that as they both fell to the ground. BUT I think Ariza is a bitch for what happened afterwards.
Sorry for trying to get my facts straight rather than playing telephone with everybody and accepoting word of mouth on an internet forum as fact. Once again, I am truly sorry Rudy got hurt, I wish this play never happened. Im just trynig to see it for what it is rather than what everybody claims edit: good post sabas
You're welcome. I assumed anyone who knew how Wikipedia works would never use it as an authoratative source. My bad. That's the problem with using Wikipedia as a source, nearly and most do not equal all. And the part you quoted about intent clearly differed from the official NBA rule book. BNM
I can't believe people are calling us homers for being upset over the Ariza foul. "He was making a play for the ball"... Okay.... So when we send in Michael Ruffin and tell him to elbow Kobe in the face as he goes to swipe at the ball, that's all good too, right?
You have every right to be pissed at Ariza. Im not saying you shouldnt, I cant speak for others He did a little dance after the foul...fuck him, I agree. Ive just wanted to break down the incident correctly
The silver lining... That asshole, Lamar Odom, who had nothing to do with the play, was the one suspended. Nice!
Just stop talking and go back to your own kind. Ariza should've known better than to haphazardly rape someone across the head on a clear path to the basket. He got what he deserved and so did all the punkass laker fans on this planet.
If that's the goal, you can't ignore the circumstances. This incident *just happens* to occur when the L*kers are on the wrong end of a blow-out, and their coach is accusing them of being soft? Yes, it was intentional - and it is silly to claim otherwise.
Probably because there is nothing more ridiculously slapstick than 2 heavily padded and protected guys trying to hit each other while wearing ice skates. That, and the assumption that since they play hockey for a living they aren't the brightest bulbs on the tree.
