You might say there isn't a fair enough sample size for a comparison, given that we saw two seasons of TJ as a starter and 75% of a season with a (supposedly) injured Calderon as a starter. I still think there's a basis for comparison, especially if you've watched TJ playing for Indiana. So make a choice. You're back in the summer of '08 and have to choose which PG will be your starter for the foreseeable future. Who do you pick?

    15.1 ppg (43 FG%; 37 3PT%), 5.1 apg, 3.6 rpg, 2.4 tpg

The numbers are actually pretty comparable to his first full season as a starter for us. The difference is he's averaging about 3 fewer assist per game, but shooting 7% better from long range. As always with TJ, you probably need to watch him play to get an accurate understanding of how well he's playing.

It's weird because if we kept TJ, and somehow got Marion, they'd probably work well together.

If we'd kept TJ, the chances of us converting Calderon into anything useful at all would have been very low given his free agency. I agreed with trading Ford in that we maximized what we could have gotten for him. That said, Calderon can't cut it as a starter for this team; his defensive weaknesses might be covered on a strong team, but on a team with piss-poor defenders they're magnified.

Please look beyond the stats, Granger has been out for awhile and Pacers have managed to stay in the playoff race, whereas Jose hasnt done ANYTHING this year for raps, give me one game that Jose took over! you cant find one because he hasnt been the same, plus his inability to defend KILLS this team. Guys like Rondo D-Will CP3 have owned this team because Jose sucks. If you recall awhile ago i posted a video of TNT half time talking about Jose and how his an amazing back up and its true, the last 2 seasons he was a back up and he was amazing, this year as a starter his been nothing but Garbage. ROKO plays 10x better except he doesnt have jump-shot

What team hasen't CP3 owned? Why would you want your PG to take over a game? My god, you all have short memories....reading through the forum you want to trade Bosh and anoit Bargs as the franchise guy? Are you joking. TJ is cancer and will never be a winner. Jose had a rough year, but was injured. He isn't that great defensively, but this team sucks on D from top to bottom. I think having both Jose and TJ play off each other raised their value to more then it was really worth. Jose is clearly the better PG.

I think they had great balance as a tandem and both suck a little more now that they are apart. In hindsight Keeping TJ and Jose together probably would have worked best for the Raps, but in reality neither player would have accepted that role.
too bad because it worked really well for the team last year.
It's also hard to gauge how much of an effect J.O. had on Bargs improvment. Did being put on the bench cause him to take his role more seriously? Did J.O. help him in practice to become a better defender than what he was?

bottom line, the Raptors were a better team last year than this year.

How many games did TJ lose for the Raptors? I agree that them together was working great for the Raptors but obviously neither of them wanted that. I would still pick Jose because of his decision making and being less stupid but TJ would work better with Marion but had we not given up TJ would we have Marion right now?

Why not? Indiana would have happily taken Calderon instead of Ford. At that time, Calderon's trade value was higher than TJ's. Therefore we could have still made the Jermaine trade, hence we could have still made the Marion trade.

Infact, Calderon could have probably even nabbed us Josh Smith, whom I feel is an even superior player to Marion.

I just wanted to deal the guy we would get the most for. Not sure how BYC status works in sign and trades, but it seems like we could have done much better than JO for Calderon. Possibly even Beasely. Memphis or Portland probably would have gave us a solid offer too. Remember, at the point we traded TJ, a lot of fans thought Calderon and TJ were top 10 PGs, and possibly even the best PG's in the East.

Im sorry but does Bosh look like a Leader to you? when was the last time raps won a game? BUT as I recall D-wade has been OWNING in miami who the hell does he have on his team? JO? Moon? or beasley? any of those guys look reliable to you? anyways Point is when Bosh said he wants to b MVP he had to show up, last time i checked when he was injured raps had a 3 game winning streak!!!!
And hell yeah I want a PG to take over a game when the "franchise" player is down, a PG must take over a game. And which team CP3 hasnt owned? Lets see Lakers, Cavs. and the list goes on.
Lastly what the hell? How is TJ cancer? DO YOU NOT SEE PACER's record? no dunleavy, no granger and they are still in the playoff hunt and actually might get in. First yr TJ was here raps won 47 games, second yr he was gone for almost half the season and your JOSE started and raps had only 41 wins!!!!, so show me a stat or a fact that TJ in cancer? Plus raps dont play D cuz they dont know how to play basketball in general, raps dont even know what kind of team they are

I've read alot of your posts....you don't have the highest BB IQ. In your opinion, swapping Calderone for TJ would make the Raps a top 3 team in the East...right. How would that address any of the problems facing the raptors? Would they be a better team defensively? Sure TJ has better speed, but he takes too many chances on D. He tries to take over the game, but he always forces shots when the game is on the line. He is a cancer because he wouldn't come off the bench. When Calderon was at his highest, he offered to come off the bench, even though he was clearly outplaying TJ. Get a grip, the raps stink. I'm not a Bosh booster at all. I don't think he is a leader at all....but throwing TJ in for Calderon wouldn't add anything to this team. Lakers and Cavs are the only teams that you listed as not being owned by CP3....man....CP3 has to be in the top 4 players in the league. He dosen't play in a big market...big deal. He is neck and neck with Lebron, DWade, and Kobe.

Each player has strengths and weaknesses. I don't think there is a difference in W/L for the Raps with either PG. Both, possibly.
