So Jackson plays 45 minutes and has 11 assists to go with his 7 turnovers. Why is Nelson still playing him so much? And what the hell happened to Marcus Williams? Does he even travel with the team anymore?
Maggette is so nauseating to watch. Watching him play is like dental work without Novocaine. I don't care if you can score. I care if you can make your team better. And help win games. This guy is a stat-padding turnover machine. Sits there and whines at Bellinelli when he doesn't get his post pass. This after completely ignoring the sizzling Bellinelli wide open for a three. Crucial play at the end of the game? Shoots a wide open three for an airball with 17 on the shot clock. My goodness. People are so blinded by stats sometimes. being nothing but a scorer is fool's gold. Maggette is the ultimate example. He scores so many points, yet he's such a loser. He doesn't win games, and his teams don't win games. He's just so NOT concerned with any other aspect of the game. I'd rather play 4-on-5 than have him sabotage the team's chances by scoring his 25 points on the way to another loss. edit: but I'm happy we lost...One more tank job in the bag!
Maggette needs some fluidity in his movement. He's built like LeBron James and sometimes shows flashes of that type of athleticism, but he is so herky jerky and wreckless when he makes a move towards the basket. His shot is also like this. He has great lift in his legs but it seems like he flings the ball, using all arms (like Larry Hughes). I think if he can refine certain aspects of his athleticism, he can become a better player. He's still under 30, right? Then again, he relies so heavily on his ability to get to the basket (at all costs) and either convert or get fouled, it might not be possible. Currently, I do like his production. I think he's passing up the shot a lot more than before and is looking for his teammates. He's also accepted his role off the bench. You can't really ask for more. It's not his fault he was given a 50M deal over 5 years. I don't know what more we can expect from Maggette. I don't think we can blame the losses on him. The roster is so lopsided that it has no chance unless we have that one special player that knows exactly what it takes to win games.
If we could just take care of the ball better it'd be a nicer game to watch, but damn... just can't stomach sloppy play. We must have 4 of our 5 guys average 3 turnovers per game at least. It's not pretty. A healthy lineup against a decent defensive team would have guys like Sjax, Mags, Crawford, Ellis basically handing out assists to the other side. We need somebody boring, but important like Jose Calderon. He doesn't really score, but can score and he looks to pass and without turning it over.
