You shouldn't have traded for Kidd.

He's over the hill. He was when you traded for him.

Harris is a dynamic scorer. He's much younger. And he's, relative to Kidd, out of this world defensively.

You're not doing anything special with Howard/Dirk/Terry/Kidd or Harris anymore... for whatever reason. But Harris is younger and is a potential building block for the future. He's a better asset to trade. You wouldn't want Harris when Amar'e is on the trading block? When Jefferson or Carter or Marion or Wallace were all available this year?

No shit Sherlock. Wizards shouldn't have drafted Kwame Brown #1 overall either. Should I get a Nobel Prize Award for that?

What do you think would've happened if the Kidd trade didn't happen? Would Harris be an All-Star this year. Probably not. This is the most confusing move the Mavericks made. That being said, they felt they needed to act and they did, and it seems to have failed.

He's wasn't over the hill then, and he isn't over the hill now. On a decline? Yes.

Yes, he is -- in NJ. We would not be seeing the same Devin Harris in Dallas.

He's not the same defender he was in Dallas, either. Now that he is free on offense, his defense is average. He gambles and slacks off on D.

You aren't making a case for Devin here. Basically what you're saying is that he shouldn't of been traded for Kidd but rather someone else. And none of the players you listed would have made Dallas a better team. So, I don't know where you're going with this.

Insightful post. I had no idea that the Jason Kidd trade was a mistake, even though I have watched every game the Mavericks have played this year. I guess I should now go into the Blazers forum and tell you that your team would be better this year if you had Kevin Durant instead of Greg Oden. And ignoring the fact that the NJ offense is literally tailored for Harris and his strengths, and that would never have happened in Dallas, or the fact that since his offensive production has increased he has been increasingly disinterested in defense, seems to make your points pretty useless. Thanks for your opinion though. Also, in your signature, you should probably add the 6.5 fouls per 36 minutes that Greg Oden would average.
