At this point I'd be willing to bet that he is going to sit out the rest of the season just to prove the point that he is really hurt. He was embarrassed by that press release saying he isn't really hurt and he should suck it up. That backfired and instead of getting him back on the court he will go to as many doctors as it takes to prove he was right and he shouldn't play.

I think VDN embarrassed him more than anybody.

Why are the Bulls going down that road in the first place. I really don't understand the press release and subtle snipes I see coming from organizational media outlets (Smith has made a could of derisive comments about Deng, and stated the Bulls have a definite preferred course of action) that suggest the Bulls want him out there and this minute.

I mean, Deng's given no indication in his time here, that he's some sort of goldbricker. He's been hurt more than his share, but the guy's got a freaking broken leg. Given their investment in Deng, and the fact they aren't really contending for anything this season, I can't for the life of me understand why they seem mad he's playing it safe.

This sort of thing really ticks me off as a fan, because my brand, at least, of being a fan is liking the players and liking the team. I don't like seeing the team do something I think is against the player's interest. Honestly, I don't think it's even in the team's interest either, because if Deng's leg doesn't get fixed right, it'll hurt them in the long run as well. So I suppose I don't understand what their problem is.

I think VDN and Deng don't get along. Vinnie likes aggressive offensive guys like BG. Deng is more of a work it around and take a good shot kind of guy. The Sam Smith comments about Vinnie never liking Thabo's style back that up. And it seemed like Vinnie was hinting that he was going to start Salmons over Deng before Deng went out. Deng played for almost a month with a bum leg and he got dumped on for his mediocre production. Why should he take shit and play hurt in what amounts to a meaningless season when he's got the long term deal. He tried it the other way and got nothing but shit on.

I think you're right. I don't think Vinnie is much for anyone who can't create his own shot. It's not so much pure "agressiveness", but ability to create play that style of game. Because, it really seems his offense is little but having guys take turns clearing out. If you're not capable of being a one-on-one player, you don't fit.

Yeah, I'm starting to think you're right, and I really don't like that style of play because in the absence of a strong leader like Nash, it devolves into who can jack up the first shot. And that's not a recipe for success.
