Re: About my thread Lakers being Suspended And I have to add a big thank you! You have a way of saying things that makes people think but doesn't usually offend. Nice job Minstrel!
Re: About my thread Lakers being Suspended By the afternoon yesterday it hit me like deja vu all over again. I remember having to try and justify the "Jail Blazers" dumbass moves over and over again during those years. As a fan I tried to believe what I was saying when I defended them because we were winning and "that's all that matters"... but it got to the point where I was still a fan (of the jersey not the players) but was embarrassed to discuss it with people who weren't Blazer fans. I don't even think I'd be that mad if we didn't see LA fans talk about how you used to be able to do that regularly back in the day because it was a "man's game". They seem to forget that back in the day the other team could and did retaliate physically as well. Doing it now, knowing that you can send in some scrub to take out a key player on the other team without any real consequences is just weak. It's like a schoolyard bully who will goes out and punches another kid and then runs behind the teacher for protection but continues to taunt. Yah, you da man.
And some of us paid membership fees to support this site... we don't owe S2 a damn thing. Now back to my Blazers discussion in the Blazer forum which is generally the only place I post.
I don't know what happened last night other than what I read in this thread. However, a couple points I'd like to make. 1) Not all Blazer fans are automatically hostile to other teams. Some of us even like seeing different viewpoints (even... no especially when they disagree). Laker fans tend to get it worst for previously explained reasons, even though I personally don't think it's a good reason to do so. 2) Some Blazer fans are hostile to anyone with a different opinion (Including other Blazer fans). I really wish we could get less of this in general. 3) More people need to be able to ignore posters who they don't like (either through willpower or the ignore feature. Whatever works). If you think someone is trolling or just not a reasonable poster the best way to deal with them is ignore it. People won't keep posting if they don't get replies. 4) I do think we should try and improve the community as a whole, as I think it improves our board as well. As such, I will personally try to post in other forums a bit more, even though I'm not exactly a heavy poster on this board anyways (I do a lot more reading than writing, it's my nature). Also, regarding the new posts feature. I've long used this, but is it possible to suggest an improvement? I'd love it if I could view only new posts in the basketball forums for example, as I'm not interested in the other forums. Obviously, it's not hard to ignore the other posts, but it would be neat if I could filter them out automatically. Maybe this is already possible and I'm just ignorant on how?
I'm all for this, I'm friends with them, but I don't at all know the information, I'd love to have them back..
I do come in here with no bias, so yes, I do seriously think that. It's really ridiculous that you judge me based on my signature. I'm a Lakers fan and Bynum is one of my favorite players, so why not have him in my sig? But to judge me soley on that is asinine. What if I were to change my sig to Greg Oden or Brandon Roy? Would I be more acceptable then? You should never judge a book by it's cover, and by judging me based on my sig, that's what you're doing.
The idea is for the forum to be one big community, rather than individual groups, this isn't HS lol That's all I have left to say though. And with March Madness approaching and Portland St. on the brink of making the tourney, make sure you visit our college forum! lol
I suggest this for all non-Blazers fans who come here (and, in fact, any Blazers fans who are new here): Don't view this forum as one entity. Don't think of it as a "forum" who is with you, against you, homers, alarmists, etc. See the forum as a collection of individual people who all happen to talk here and spend your time talking to the people you like and who interest you and avoid/ignore the people who are antagonistic or don't interest you. Speaking for myself, I really like talking to fans of other teams. I could go to other team forums, but I don't generally have the time to be active in more forums than this one. However, I can't make anyone in this forum feel as I do (nor would that be a good thing, if I could). I, and many others, are here to talk civilly with fans of other teams. Various others aren't so friendly to fans of other teams. There's no "Blazer forum attitude." There are individual attitudes, and whichever people you focus on is going to dictate what you see the "attitude of the forum" to be. Chat with people you like, ignore those you don't. I think it's a simple principle that leaves people the happiest.
That would be a good start. And yes, you are being judged immediately by your sig. It's not fair because I've read your posts and you've never been a complete ass, but the same can't be said for your other homies. Just seeing that sig puts most Blazer fans into instant defense mode.
But, the fact you live in Iowa, yet you're a L*kers fan AND have Andrew "Sam Bowie" Bynum in your sig already broadcasts a ton about you...none of it good.
But we are a big community. In fact, we're bigger here than anywhere else on S2. If there were other communities our size, I'd love to mix with them.
It does. After I eat lunch at the same table as him or we get done playing cards I usually do something like this:
I'm preaching for a complete forum unity full of
I don't understand this point about going to other team's sites instead of posting OT here. If one poster here wants to mock Kidd to other posters who liked the idea of signing him, that's one thing. If someone goes over to the Nets board and says wow, kidd is washed up, he only had 1 assist last night, then that's a lot more likely to be viewed as trolling, and end up in a flame war. So why would you go to another team's site to make a generic criticism of a player? There's way more harm than good to come out of that. If a Blazer fan dislikes the Birdman, and wants to start a thread here saying god, that guy's a freak, it makes more sense to do it here, then going to another team's board and saying it. If a Lakers fan hated Brandon Roy, it makes more sense to complain on their site then to come here.
