If you could make a championship team with any 12 players in the NBA who would you pick. You are limited to ONE superstar player, and ONE player who has made the all star game ONCE.(excluding Dwyane Wade and Lebron James)With a team full of good players you have to have great team chemistry or you will go know where. Here is minePG-Steve Nash - When dealing with a team full of superstars you must have unselfish players. Steve Nash is the right guy for that. He doesnt need to score to dominate a ball game. Its obvious he makes every player around him better. He is the best passer in the game. Where was Boris Diaw before playing with Steve Nash? He makes players great and gives them confidence. He is an awesome team leader and role model. His role on this team would be making plays happen setting up the open man.SG-Bruce Bowen - His role on this team would be to do all the dirty work. He is one of the best perimiter players in the game if not the best. He is an awesome on the ball defender who can guard almost anyone in the league. Hes good for about 8 points per game.SF-Richard Jefferson - This guy can flat out play. He is a good team leader and great locker room guy. He is good for 2o points and 8 rebounds a game. He is a good defender and isnt afraid to dive for a lose ball or draw a foul. His shot percentage is awesome for a Foward. He shoots above 50%. His role on this team would be scoring and tough inside rebounding.PF-Elton Brand- This guy is a monster. Imagine what he would do with Nash throwing him dimes. He is averaging 25 and 10 to go along with well over 2 blocks per game. His field goal percentage is very good. He is an awesome defender and tough rebounder. His role on this team would be scoring and rebounding.C-Marcus Camby- I agree with that pick. He is one of the most underrated players in the league. He is always good for 10 points 10 boards and 3 blocks per game. When dealing with a team full of superstars you need a man who will not demand the ball so much in the post. He doesnt look to score. His role on this team would be defense and rebounding.BENCHJamall Tinsley- A very solid point guard. his 10 point 5 assist number dont look like much at first but if you watch the man play you will know why I picked him. He is an awesome playmaker and he makes smart plays.Mike Miller-Awesome scorer and underrated rebounder. He runs the floor pretty well and can take of the point guard slot for 5-10 minutes a game. His role on this team is to provide Instant offense off the bench.Tayshaun Prince-Awesome rebounder not afraid to bang with the NBA's big men. He is a a great defender. He is a guy you can count on to play no matter what. He rarley misses a game. He is a start quality guy but will be unselfish enough to be a great teams 6th or 7th man. His role on this team would be tough defense and scoring off the bench.Troy Murphy- He is an awesome all around talent. He is averaging 16 points and 8 rebounds. Those are solid numbers. He has a nice touch for a big man and he can hit the 15 footer in his sleep. His role would be offensive scoring and rebounding.Pj Brown-Awesome rebounder. Tough interior defender. Hes good for 8 points and 8 boards a night. He has been pretty healthy for the most part in his career. If Camby ever had a major injury you can be sure that Pj Brown will step in and produce starter type numbers. His role is rebounding off the benchJon Barry-Main reason is for veteran leader ship but he can come in and drain some big 3 pointers. ole on this team would be veteran leadership and 3 pointers.Eric Williams- Not the best talent but hes an awesome guy to have around. He is a very solid leader. Role on this team would be leadership.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------I know I left quality guys such as Billups and Hamilton off the list because i dont see them wanting to sit the bench. I tried to use a different aray of talents and unselfish players to form an awesome core.I love Billups and Rip as much as anybody but I didnt want to copy of Mannys idea. I had them in mind too
Brand and Nash have both made the All Star game more than once ---PG - Derek Fisher - We are talking about a player that can hit open shots for you, and defend, all while being a very quiet and efficient player. All in all, he is one of the most respected players in the league, and one of its best leaders. Defensively, he can match up with a two-guard or point guard, and shut guys down. Offensively, he is a player with the ability to get from Point A to Point B, and hit open shots off post players. And let's not forget his incredible ability to finish games (2001 NBA Finals anyone?)Role: Defense, Spreading the Defense with outside shot (18 - 25 Ft range), Leadership SG - Joe Johnson - This is a player who can take over games late as a star, yet at the same time simply hit jump shots as a role player. He showed a great ability to feed off others as a Sun, and this year is a 30 point threat night in and night out as a starter. Yes he did leave Phoenix for fame, but then again, he has never cause locker room trouble as an NBA player or off court. Role: Spreading the defense with outside shot (18 - 25 Ft Range)SF - Bruce Bowen - As a Derek Fisher, this is a player who does two primary things on court: Hits open three pointers off post players, and plays incredible lockdown defense. Off court, he is also known as an incredible leader, mentoring players and showing them the ropes. He is yet another player on my starting 5 who feeds off a post player to score, and who uses post player so he can be more aggressive on defense, and shut down players night in and night outRole: Spread the defense with outside shot (25 Ft Range), Defense *Superstar* PF - Tim Duncan - Double Tim Duncan, and he is so unselfish he will pass to any three perimeter players to hit an open jumper. Don't double Duncan, and he can face you up and stroke a 15 Footer or spin into the lane and drop the ball into the net. There is nothing he cannot do, not to mention he is one of the most underrated defenders ever to play the game. By running the offense through Duncan, the defense will have absolutely nothing they can do.Role: Primary offensive option, Defense, LeadershipC - Troy Murphy - Troy Murphy is yet another player on my starting five who is able to hit the open jumper off Duncan, or penetration by a Guard. He can also however, get garbage points, and play tough defense. Exceptional rebounder. Doesn't need the ball to score.Role: Defense, Spread floor with open jumpers (15 - 18 Ft Range) Garbage Baskets---PG2 - Damon Jones - While playing with Shaq in Miami, Damon was a great threat from the outside. This was a player who had solid percentages, got along fine with everyone in the locker-room, and played unselfish basketball. When open, he might actually be the best shooter in the NBA.Role: Spread floor with open jumper (25 Ft Range)* One time All - Star* SG2 - Manu Ginonili - Has played a majority of his career off of the bench, and has still found ways to be named an All Star. he is an athletic player, who can finish at the rim with the best of them. He also gambles defensively, leading to steals sometimes. Threat down the stretch.Role: Clog the passing lanes, create for teammatesSF2 - Tayshaun Prince - Unlike Bruce Bowen, Prince can score in ways other than hitting open shots. He is not as good of an open shot shooter as Bowen, but is perhaps an equal defender and better overall scorer. Can be used as a scorer if needed late in games. Great post player.Role: Create for teammates and self, DefensePF2 - Kenny Thomas - Again, hits open shots and rebounds for you. Garbage player. Can play defense.Role: Spreads floor with jumper (16 Ft Range)C2 - Emeka Okafor - Proven winner who is a team first player. Great defender who can sub in for Tryo Murphy and simply sustain momentum, playing All Star caliber defense.Role: DefensePG3 - Lindsey Hunter - Veteran leader who can hit outside shots and defend better than most PGs in the LeagueRole: Defense**C3- Darko Milicic ** - Might learn something under Tim Duncan -----In conclusion, with my team you basically have players to build around Tim Duncan. You have all parts of the game, and there is no selfishness or trouble makers. You can't defend of score on this squad boys.
Starting five:PG- Kirk Hinrich. He can be a leader on the floor. He plays smart, and he is an offensive threat. He knows how to make plays and he's unselfish. Understands the game very well.SG- Wally Szczerbiak. We all know he can shoot, but the thing i like about him the most is his unselfish play. It's clear that he loves the game as well, and i love players with heart.SF- Josh Howard. He can play lockdown D, and score 15+ ppg. He's not the best shooter, but he penetrates well. I would need a quick defender w/ Wally in the line-up.PF- Kevin Garnett. He is a beast. He is capable of 20/20 every night. He wants to win, and he's unselfish.C- Dwight Howard. Absolute beast on the boards. he is a good interior defender as well.bench:PG-Delonte West. He can score, but he brings explosiveness and desire. Him diving after loose balls and hitting big shots will be contagious.SG- Eddie Jones. He plays with emotion, and he can score, too. He is a very good defender, and he is a leader. (btw, has he ever been an all-star? hope not)SF- Danny Granger. Very versatile defender. He can play 3 positions, and is prone for a breakout game every once in a while.PF- Ryan Gomes. He can rebound with the other bigs despite being undersized. He has a great understanding of the game. This kid can play.C- Dan Gadzuric. He can rebound like there's no tomorrow. Also a good shotblocker.PG-Chris Duhon. Aggressive defender. He'll just get after it on both ends. Great guy to have around.PF- Antonio Davis. Veteran rebounder/interior defender. Could teach a thing or two to Ryan Gomes and Dwight Howard.yeah i know, there's some homerisms there, but whatev. EDIT: As you can see, this team is built around unselfishness and teamwork. There's not one player on this team that you could consider a "ballhog". There's also alot of heart and desire on this team. They want to win, and they'll give 100% every night.
The twelve i would pick goes a little something like this..Starting Five: PG- Chris Paul, hasn't made the all-star team yet, is a future stud. Loves to pass and get his teamates involved, but can take over a game and score if needed.SG- Richard Hamilton, a great shooter and player. Has championship experience, and plays to win. He is always in motion, always hustles, and is the closest to Reggie Miller in the league.SF- Josh Howard, a very good young player and outstanding talent. Plays good defense, is a good rebounder from the small forward position, runs the floor well, and attacks the rim well.PF- Elton Brand, my star, can do it all. A scorer and rebounder for the team.C- Chris Kaman, plays very well downlow with Elton Brand, would be able to continue the chemestry they have together.backups:Bobby Jackson: A veteran point guard, provides energy and excitement off the bench for this team. A great mentor to have for Chris Paul.Eddie Jones: A good shooter and defensive presence. Will help with the team.Jameer Nelson: Another young point guard to help carry the load, is a team player, can score, distribute and push the tempo up.Udonis Haslem: Someone coming off the bench, that will hustle and get rebounds. Darko Milicic: Can come in and block shots behind Kaman. Is young, and eager to get playing time, so he will play hard every time he comes on the floor.Shane Battier: Also a good player, plays with outstanding hear. Will do everything to help his team win.
