Charles Lewis, AKA "Mask" of the TapouT crew, is dead following a car crash today, according to Tracy Lee and other various internet sources. According to the LA Times...
Re: One of the TapouT guys died in a car crash Certainly looks like it. Early hours, Porsche vs. Ferrari, extremely high speeds. I doubt they were on their way to get milk for their nan's morning tea. I'm curious about who was in the other car.
Re: One of the TapouT guys died in a car crash Apparently the other guy was some old dude. I wonder if "Mask" was intoxicated also.
Re: One of the TapouT guys died in a car crash Sad story, but this is what happens when you are retarded. R.I.P
Re: One of the TapouT guys died in a car crash That car really split completely in half. I guess the car swerved right at the last second before hitting the pole right on the middle?
Re: One of the TapouT guys died in a car crash The other driver--Jeffrey David Kirby--is being charged with vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated. According to the report, Kirby lost control of his Porsche and hit Lewis' Ferrari, causing it to crash. After Lewis crashed, Kirby fled the scene, ditched his car, and took off on foot with his girlfriend. Kirby has been charged with DWI twice prior and as a result could still face a 2nd-degree murder charge.
Some updated details on this story from Sherdog via cagepotato. This makes Lewis's death even more tragic as he appears to be the victim of a drunk driver as he was stone cold sober and apparently never drinks according to friends. I know a lot of hard core mma fans used to bag on the tapout guys but to me even if they weren't exactly my cup of tea, they supported the sport to the fullest and were excellent in their support of fighters who were in the UFC and smaller orgs because the tapout guys loved the sport and put back into it. A crying shame he was unfortunate enough to be on the wrong street at the wrong time.
