Thinking about going there for a weekend, just for the hell of it (returning from mexico...will fly to dallas, 2 day layover then go back to LA). Any good? Is it easy to get around, is there anything to see? what about Houston? Austin?
I think San Antonio with the Alamo & River Walk are a better place in Texas. Also, cheap whores just over the border.
that's kind of what i was thinking. dallas is the direct flight though so I'd like to not have to take a connection.
Austin is nice. San Antonio, though kinda small, is nice, too. Dallas and Houston are huge disappointments, IMO.
thinking other cities now...just some where for a day or two...i was thinking even Chicago to visit my grandma but its too much of a bitch to navigate that city, get a car, go downtown, etc. Mainly looking somewhere nice, lively scene.....easy airport access, etc.
I was considering Memphis to catch the blazers game on the 28th but the flights were too many connections for me.
has to be something I can do in a day or two...has easy (one or direct) connections from Acapulco, Mexico and where the weather isn't too fucked up. go to Chicago and Van-city alot. random cities work....just something where i get there on a friday night, fuck around saturday and sunday AM then fly back to LA. Preference is NOT to rent a car so good public transporte is essential.
Man, the D.C. National Mall area is killer this time of year! Especially if you can catch the flowering cherry trees!
the thing is that I'd get in pretty late......like midnight or so.....I was thinking boston..the one way flight back to LA on Virgin America is only 140 bucks (i'd have to cover my flight back to LA).....but I'd get in at midnight...it would work out well but I wouldn't have time to relax, it'd be rushed.
thinking san antonio...might get really bored there. is the river walk a good area? or do you get bored of it fast? might be too small time for my tastes.
If you're alone, the River Walk might be boring. My wife & I had a great time- shops (for her), eating on a floating barge, all this underground... And since I like history the Alamo was pretty nifty. They also had a World's Fair there and some remnants remain. But if you're single, Vegas, Van BC, DC... good places to go.
Yeah, I go to those places...the #1 priority for me is ease of travelling and soemthing not so inconvienent. Is San Antonio good/easy to get around though without a car? Would like some sweet texas BBQ or something. it'd be a few extra flights/connects so might be more trouble. I'd probably get bored of river walk after an hour or so..... who knows.
