Wow. Jackson beefs up in the weight room Janny Hu, Chronicle Staff Writer Friday, March 13, 2009 <=== Jason's favorite day (03-12) 19:40 PDT -- Stephen Jackson says he's bigger and stronger than ever after adding 10 pounds of muscle to his 6-foot-8 frame and tipping the scales at 235 pounds. His teammates offer up a slightly different view. "I don't know how he put on that much weight," said Kelenna Azubuike, the Warriors' resident bodybuilding champ. "But I guess it's all muscle." "It's just fat," Andris Biedrins joked. "Who said it was muscle?" The proof is in the numbers, and Jackson's have been bulging for the last several weeks. Not only is the Warriors' swingman leading the team in points, assists and minutes, but he's on track for a second-straight career season. On Wednesday, he rallied Golden State to a win over the Nets with a routine 29 points, seven rebounds and seven assists. In February, he averaged 27.3 points, 8.1 assists, 5.7 rebounds and 2.10 steals, shooting better than 47 percent from the field and 46 percent from three-point range. Jackson says his new-and-improved physique is behind his sustained surge, and he's giving credit to the Warriors' strength and conditioning gurus Mark Grabow and John Murray.
