Early in the season, depth was certainly a strong point. At this point, injuries have really pushed it to the limit. One more big injury, and Nate will be holding the team together with duct-tape and spackle!

In the games that Roy has been "wearing down", LaMarcus Aldridge has been doing the exact opposite. I think we're fine. Batum, Jerryd, Travis, and other role players will and have been picking up the slack.

He's a fan. However, he's a L*ker fan. Not a fan of the Blazers. Can you blame him after the smackdown we gave his beloved Purple & Piss Monday night?

I would submit that the Sergio/Blake/Batum/Outlaw/Frye unit I thought I saw a bit of last night was the "duct-tape and spackle" lineup without the extra injury.

I do agree with Dwight James that Roy carries a lot of this team and that can wear him down. When Rudy comes back perhaps you try to play Roy 28 minutes a couple games. Or if there is period where the team is playing well with Roy on the bench perhaps you keep him out a little longer. But it's just tough this year in the west, if it drops us from 3 to 8 then getting Roy rest wasn't worth it. In other years you might sacrifice the possibility of dropping a seed to get your best player a break.

Perhaps he can have some lower intensity practices and Nate can consider giving him extra time off.

Or run some more offensive through other players. Make Aldridge more of a focal point and stagger their time on the court, reducing the minutes they play together.

I do think next preseason the team should alter their preparation. Lance Armstrong didn't train at 100% year round, he gave his body breaks and ramped up intensity at key specific intervals throughout the year. Then he'd achieve maximum performance in a short 2 week span. The goal next year will be more focused on peaking as the playoffs start, and summer workouts should be modified accordingly.

So Mixum...What do you think of OUR Lakers situation? Think Odom will be playing well in the playoffs? Think OUR Bynum will be back up to speed when the playoffs start?

You said we wouldn't make the playoffs without a trade. Well then, how are we in first place with a month left to play. Do you still think we'll miss the playoffs?

Speaking of wearing out, Jaynes has worn out his welcome at every paper in Portland, has worn a wig 'cause his hair is wearing thin, and wears sweats to hide that worn out spare tire he's been lugging around for decades.

We're all used to not having Webster, of course, but having three of our top eight guys entirely unavailable is a pretty big deal.

Roy is averaging nearly 27 ppg in the month of March and he is shooting over 50% from the field. I realize it's only halfway through March, but it is still a 7 game sample and also the last 7 games the team has played.

In what world do these numbers mean someone is "wearing down"? Roy is scoring more and shooting at a better %. In Dwight Jaynes' world, this is "wearing down".

I disagree, Leaf fans are pretty bad.

We were missing 3 players last night that would normally be getting regular minutes (in fact 2 of them would be starting if healthy). Our depth is pretty impressive considering we still had some without 3 key players.
