There is no one solution.....but I would argue that bringing in the *right* vet to mentor the youngsters would be PART of the solution.
We have not lost more than 3 in a row all season, so don't put too much stock in this loss. Nate blew it when he yanked Sergio, and then compounded his mistake by playing Bayless for 10 horridly defenseless minutes. You don't win games with 11 assists. The pass-around-the-perimeter "attack" we rely on with Blake is nearly as ineffective as the no-pass-drive-against-3-taller-guys-and-get-swatted-like-a-bug "attack" that Bayless has worn out. Time to hand the reins to Sergio and rise to contender level.
Yep. The problem is finding that "right" vet. I don't think Carter, Wallace or Jefferson are that right "vet". Nor was Deng. Of the vets available, I'd argue that Tayshaun was that one. But I'm not sure if the cost for him would be worth it for the team (I would guess a combo of Batum and Travis or Webster + more. I'm not saying he's worth that, but I'd bet Detroit would want that to cover up their cock up of trading for Iverson). Getting Wallace or Deng (or even Jefferson) would be ok if it was after they got the "right" vet in the first place. We should try to get this guy. He's pretty good on the road. I agree that we have the NBA's worst defense without Joel (hell, we have the NBAs worst defense even with Joel), but I could tell the Blazers were not going to come back. You could tell by their body language and the way they were moving. I think Nate's idea was to play small ball...but that didn't work out so well.
Sergio's numbers in the month of March (8 games)... .9 PPG, 2.3 APG, 1 RPG, .9 TO, 12.5% FG and 0% 3PT in 8 minutes a game. Why oh why would we hand him the reigns? Our backup PG spot is hideous, Blake isn't very good, but he is much better than his backups. Edit - not trying to bash Sergio here, just trying to bring into context how silly your comment was. Out of our 3 PGs, Blake is by far the most qualified to be our PG, imo.
Why are you letting stats factor into your argument with someone who just says things as some kind of funny joke?
it sucks, but at least I don't get pissed when we lose on the road, its terrible that i feel this way, but its expected to put up an L everytime we play away from the garden
The best part about this game was how for most of the game Philip Arenas was so empty/quiet that you could hear the coaches crisp and clear. Also how at one point Rebecca's audio wasn't on for her in-game interview but you could still hear her from down the court through Mike and Mike's mics because it was so quiet.
Makes me wonder what would happen to home court advantage if they played in empty arena's every night. Would they still play better, just because they are on their own court. And why is that? They have more energy because they didn't have to travel? Are they more motivated to please the home crowd? Does the psychic energy of the crowd affect the players? Or is there some kind of placebo affect, because athletes in general think they're supposed to play better at home and worse on the road.
