Re: Mike James: 'It's time for me to get what I deserve.' <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Mike James: `It's Time For Me To Get What I Deserve' 21st March, 2006 - 4:30 am Toronto Star - While Mike James claims that money won't be paramount when he sits down in the coming off-season to negotiate a new contract, the Raptor's free agent also doesn't want to be underpaid as he is right now. James, who has blossomed in Toronto, averaging 18.8 points and 5.6 assists, will earn $3.4 million (all figures U.S.) this year. He can earn $3.72 million next season if he invokes his contract option for 2006-07. Such a scenario appears unlikely considering his growth, and according to the Toronto Star James he's almost certain to declare himself a free agent this summer and seek the security ? and cash ? of a deal that could go as long as five years and give him a hefty salary hike. "The money that I make ? the multi-year deal or whatever you guys want to call it ? just give me what I deserve," James explained. "Don't underpay me. I'm tired of being called an underachiever. I'm tired of being underpaid. And I've been underpaid since I've been in this game. Now it's time for me to get what I deserve." "The money don't motivate me. The money don't motivate me at all.""But the thing is, maybe I do want to wake up one morning and say, `Baby, let's go to the Bahamas. Today.' That costs money. So what if I want to do that? Why shouldn't I have the ability to do that if for six, seven, eight months I give you my heart on the basketball court?"</div> This guy is so full of <Censored>.
Re: Mike James: 'It's time for me to get what I deserve.' yeah. I saw an interview w/ him on NBA TV, and he seemed a little arrogant for a career journeyman.
Re: Mike James: 'It's time for me to get what I deserve.' I was first, Ballah made the second thread...
Re: Mike James: 'It's time for me to get what I deserve.' This guy is a good shooter, but he's a decent overall player. First off, he's not a pure pg. He's a very, very, poor man's version of Gilbert Arenas. He's just a guy who can score in bunches. No defense comes with his game, however.
Re: Mike James: 'It's time for me to get what I deserve.' well...he walking the talk. He got 34 points in the 4th.

Re: Mike James: 'It's time for me to get what I deserve.' Mike James has focused on offense this year. He was a good role defender for the Pistons but no longer plays good defense for our team. He is a great boost of offense. I'd like to have him stay around next year as he generates our offense but I don't see us giving him a max contract.
Re: Mike James: 'It's time for me to get what I deserve.' I disagree with both Zards and Ace. While James is far from the defender he was with Detroit, he is much more than simply an offensive player. The guy plays solid defense, enough said. Besides that, he can score in any way possible. I still think however he should be a bench player who plays defense and hits shots.
Re: Mike James: 'It's time for me to get what I deserve.' Theres only one problem I have with him. He holds the ball too long. Most of the time, he doesnt even give up the ball till theres 5 seconds left on teh shot clock.
