Well, I quit one of jobs. For nearly a year I worked weekends at Kohls. I am a customer service manager for a bank here in Arizona, but before that I worked for Kohls department stores. I continued to work for them because they pay weekly which is nice, and because the bank is closed on weekends and they let me work on Saturdays and Sundays. Just about one hour ago I was resetting some merchandise and I had a lady with a cart full of merchandise ask me if I could ring her out. Every item she had came from the clearance rack and she disputed the price of every item, which when the price is disputed I have to call an associate from that department and they have to verify whether the item is on clearance or not. About five items in, finding out that none of them were actually clearance and that she probably just put yellow tickets on them, she says, "This is ridiculous, you should just give them to me for what I tell you they are, its going to take an hour for you to ring me out." I say, 'Mam, we have to verify that the prices are correct. Without a manager I can't give the items to you for more than 50% off their regular price." "Well, then call a manger," she grunts out from her fat pig like face. So I call a manager over, and she says, "Your little man here is taking forever to ring me up. These items clearly all have yellow tickets and they should be 80% off! I should have been out of here 45 minutes ago." "I'm sorry for the delay miss, I will stay right here and approve any price changes and we will have you out of her shortly," says Jesus, the biggest pussy of all the managers. "Approve what?! These aren't price changes! This is what they are tagged for now tell your monkey to mark them down." To which I say, "Your an idiot." "What?!" she snorts. "Your an idiot, now eat shit and die you fat cunt." I then took off my name tag and said fuck this job. I walked out, her eyes wide and burning. I hear the manager apologize for me as I walk out the door. Ugh... I have had six jobs in the last two years...
ughh..work at discount retail you get discount customers. I used to work at Meier & Frank and also Nordstroms. huge difference between the types of customers we would get. The M&F type would try to screw you over with "well I got this on the rack marked 30% off bullshit. the lowest deonominator of people.
I would have just rang the shit out at the clearance price and got the lady out of there. I remember when I was a cashier at the supermarket and something wouldn't scan. First I'd ask them if they knew how much it was, if they said no, I'd say "well how much do you want it to be?" I learned pretty quickly that management will never back you up in customer disputes, even if you are doing the right thing. So you're better off just doing whatever the customer wants you to do because #1- it's not your money and #2- it's not worth the aggravation considering the money you get paid for that kind of job.
I think it kind of depends. The place I worked at would stick up for the workers because they knew some customers were assholes

Yeah, any other manager would have told the lady that we wouldnt change any prices, and most, if hearing the lady refer to me as a monkey, would have told the bitch that you cant talk to our associates that way and not sold her anything. I was a store manager for two years and some customers just arent worth having.
haha, I quit Blockbuster about a year and a half ago cause the manager called me 4 times in one hour to see how many packages i sold. our goal was to do 20 for the week and i came in on friday and she had done 6 so far, she was like its friday so you should be able to get 10 tonight. the fourth time she called i answered, 'thank you for calling Blockbuster this is Sky how can I help you' and she says, "how many?" and I say "go fuck yourself." Then i left the store with a trainee. she had to cancel her whole vacation to come back and run the store. Wow, I'm coming off as a huge dick in this thread.
lol nah I think it's blockbuster and kohls. Some places suck working for and a stupid manager makes it even worse

ABM tells a good story from about 30 years ago when he worked in a grocery store. When they had customers like that he would squeeze the bread in two when placing it in the bag, bust some eggs... and make it clear they didn't want the customer back. He says it was pretty effective.
