Trying to plan a trip around a dog. I want to go to NO but I have to look for motels that allow pets and have a reasonable rate. So far I have come up with a Motel 6 which is about $50 dollars a night, and since I can't leave the dog alone I also I have to find some places were I can take her with me.

I love my dog and I want to take her with me, it's just a bit of a pain. I might find a doggy day care down in NO and leave her there for a couple of hours though.

Besides, I don't trust kennels. I'm sure some great people work there but when you have so many dogs in a confined area a lot of things can go wrong, especially over several days, like two dogs get into a fight, or kennel cough gets spread around.

We find pet sitters. There's a very trustworthy lady in Vancouver who comes over twice per day and takes care of the mutt.

I know there are a fair number of pet friendly motels, my folks used to travel with their dog.

Try finding a place to stay without scented cleaning products! I have extreme fragrance/chemical sensitivity and as a result just don't travel, but when my cousin in Santa Barbara was finally able to legally marry I was not going to miss it. I don't know anyone who lives close enough to put me up and it took 3 weeks to find a place to stay. I paid twice what my brother did for a room for 3 people in a standard motel.
