The best part IMO was Roy "breaking the ice" at Oden's interview thing.

I'm not gonna be too optimistic about Batum. You never know how bad an ankle injury is until the next day and the day after that.

Quick is sure stepping his game up with these behind the locker room pieces. They're great stuff.

I was thinking the same thing. That was the best reporting he's done in a long time.

I agree too. Being a fan for almost 40 years I could care less about hearing the same old comments about the game. I can see the game. The players answers are all similar after a while. What I can't see is what happens in practice and in the locker room. So to me these insights are a nice change of pace. Just report what is going on.

Personally I would prefer not hearing the "EXPERT" opinion from the media guys at all. Because although they are just an opinion, you have too many idiot fans (and other media outlets) that take it for gospel. Then all of sudden it is "fact" . So for me these observations are much more entertaining.

    The excerpt:
It's not just a great little insight given by Quick, but it's a great illustration of just how essential Roy is to this team's success; not just his play on the court, but also in the way he seems to manage his teammates. I'm not saying getting Greg relaxed for a media session is somehow special, but it makes you wonder if little things like that didn't contribute to Greg playing loose and free later on?

    Good stuff.

    Great writing by Quick.

Why can't he write like this all the time?

The Roy/Oden piece was definately a good one. As mentioned above, it is a great example of what Roy means to the team. The Sarge/Batum piece was good too. It's nice to see coverage of Nate showing some softness, as I sometimes also get the impression that he is a complete hardass.

I actually thought a piece Quick did a week or so ago where he interviewed Greg and it came up that him and Brandon Roy needed to talk may have actually been an eye opener. I don't think that Roy and Oden knew they needed to talk, but when Greg talked with him, and some issues came up about who's team it was, it became obvious that Greg and Roy needed to start talking. Roy in the same article, came to realize the same thing when Quick brought up some of the points of his interview with Greg. It seems to me, that maybe for the first time in his career, that Jason Quick is actually getting to know the players on a better basis, and part of that is because he is not backstabbing them anymore. He ask them questions straight up, to their face, and they respect him more because of it.

LaMarcus should take a week off, concussion is nothing to fool with.
