It probably could be reasoned either way. But, in my experience, and in watching, it seems that less aggressive defense usually shows itself in sagging off of a player, not closing out on a shooter, going under the pick on a pick-and-roll, etc. All of which lead to easier jumpshots.
All teams are "jump shooting" teams then. Don't let a silly thing like "facts" get in the way of an old, oft repeated story.
