So, this just proves that the American style of baseball isn't the only one, as Japan defeats Cuba (and Cuba had no major-leaguers on their team) to win the world title.

The Asians have some nasty pitching and solid basehitting. I'm not surprised they won. Canada did decently. 2-1 and a win over the U.S. [IMG]

Those japs play solid baseball, and the cubans pitching isn't really the best, also I definitely disagree with taking out the pitcher in the first inning.

ts because were getting lazy, and were not taking everything seriously..40 years ago we wouldve won it because of the passion for the game and the determenation to win..We have all these benefits in America and wealth, we should run away with it..But were getting cocky and lazy..and we need to take it more seriously..

Not to mention Americans don't get behind anything anymore...we are too concerned with our own problems and sports. And we don't have any political hatred towards any teams like 20 years ago.

I think the main thing all of this is showing, is that the other countires are teaching the fundamentals and team play, for all sports theese days. In both team USA basketball, and team USA baseball i think America has the most talent every time. Most certainly basketball, it can be debated in baseball. However all of our players want to do well individually and show up on ESPN, while other countries want to win and go back to their country and cheers.Minus Ichiro, i don't think anyone on Japan was as good as any of the players on the USA team in baseball. That being said, our players all went out trying to hit the long ball, and get onto the ESPN highlight real. Jeter was the only player that was going out just trying to put the ball into play on the entire team USA baseball team. All of the Asian teams, both Korea and Japan went out just to put the ball into play, and trust the guy behind them on their team to move them over to the next base. Japan and Korea would hit the occasional long ball, but anyone could tell that wasn't what they went out looking for. Defensively both Asian teams were as fundamentally sound as they could get. They turned perfect double plays, used the correct way to get in front of the balls, took their time when throwing to first instead of rushing and making throwing errors like Chase Utley and others would do.

The tourney was bs, why did Korea play Japan three times? They screwed up the system.
