<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Shaq Out With Sore Right Thumb 22nd March, 2006 - 1:13 am ESPN - According to the Associated Press, Heat center Shaquille O'Neal was held out of the Miami Heat 's matchup against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Tuesday night because of a sore right thumb. O'Neal is listed as questionable for Wednesday night's game at Detroit. O'Neal participated in Tuesday's shootaround and was listed in the starting lineup, but the team made a late decision to let him rest the thumb. [READ]</div> You have got to be <Censored> kidding me. His ankle wasn't really overdoing it, but certainly a sore thumb is definately overdoing it

He does seem to have minor injuries like this a lot, so maybe.

Yeah, but why risk messing it up more when crunch time is approaching?

I dont understand the point of this topic, aside of it being an attack on Shaq. Most people didnt realize that Shaq was about to suit up against Minny. But the Heat trainning staff held him out 15 minutes prior to tip-off.Shaq has a jammed right thumb, which probably hurts him a lot. From my personal experiences, I cant move a jammed finger, because it hurts a lot. Let alont play a sport with it.

I probably wouldn't play with one either, thanks for clarifying.

He might be a big man, but he is a pu$$y! I mean he gets injured like 15 times in a season. How bout Mr. Chris Paul, he plays with his hand injured. Just wrap it up and go out there.

Shaq has nothing to prove to anyone, he takes breaks where he can get them. He's making $20 million a year and he has 3 rings, an MVP, basically no one is going to force him to play if he doesn't want to. He gets whatever he wants.

I think the sore thumb is overdoing it, but mostly I think Shaq did it in order to make sure it was 100% for this big game against the Pistons. If Miami gets this one, it'll be a big big win

^Eaxctly, but as anypoint said it was more the Heat staff wanting that than anything. A game off is good for him once in a while, plus we were able to see just how bad Doleac has gotten. [IMG]

So we are arguing in a seprate thread how you'll do anything to make Kobe look good, and then you come out compare Shaq to Kobe in terms of their toughness and dedication when it wasn't needed at all in the first place?Anyhow, I don't think it was because of staff. ESPN just reported Pat Riley only found out he'd miss the game at 7:15 local time, 15 - 45 mintues before tipoff I'd think. I think it was simply in preparation for Detroit

Not comparing Kobe and Shaq. I'm saying Shaq's injury's are overdramatized so he can relax untill the playoffs where he turns it on.I don't miss 15 games because of a toe injury that everybody knows wasn't that serious in the first place. That injury was bogus. He was just relaxing until the playoffs started

Shaq is old so I'm guessing he just wants to take his time and wait until he is fully healthy to prevent further injuries.

You can't compare Shaq and Kobe...Shaq is such a giant that everything hurts more.
