I've noticed he's not as explosive as he was earlier this season. He doesn't seem to have his legs under him and it's really affecting his shot. As the season progresses, Rudy is getting worse. Am I off base here?

How many games has it been since he was in the hospital?

You're really using an alley-oop from a pre-season as your example?

If he's bruised his ribs as bad as they say it's probably affecting his shot still and probably will for another couple of weeks especially if he plays hard and gets bumped around

Even before the injury, Rudy was becoming increasingly inconsistent. The longer season and more physical play are clearly taking a toll. We just have to hope he learns from the experience and is ready for this next season.

Not that any of this is odd for a rookie....but some fans convinced themselves that Rudy wasn't a typical rookie.

Somebody should create a thread that states the obvious!

I thought that Rudy had finally got pass the 'wall' a couple games before he got injured. Now he's back like he was. But for a few games his shoot seem to be dropping better and he was moving again a lot without the ball.

No, Rudy's metamorphasis into "El Bricko" started to take place back in January and has been getting progressively worse. Where's the guy who was passing through people's legs? Catching ally-opp dunks? Or the guy that took it to the rack and posterized Dwight Howard?

What we have now, is a Blazer's version of Derek Anderson. I compared him to Anderson earlier in the season, and many people poo-pooed it, but he really jacks up too many jump shots and he misses a lot of wide open looks. We thought Anderson was going to be a "slasher" when we signed him, just like many thought Rudy would be the like Gianobli.

That's an excuse. He has been playing badly since well before "The Hospital".

    I wasn't making a statement; rather asking a question.

The guy is fatigued. I'm willing to bet he's going to spend a lot of the offseason resting up. Euroleague, Euroleague playoffs, Olympics, training camp, 82 game NBA season and soon to be playoffs. Add to that he was in two events at All-Star weekend, while others spent vacationing. Anybody is going to be exhausted from that, I don't care how young or in shape you are.

If were talking about rookies hitting a rookie wall, I think we should be more concerned with Bayless' bad play when given minutes lately.

I hope he does get rest. I know that Nic is going to play for France in the Euro CHampionships. I think that will be good for Nic to get some more experience under his belt!

Rudy hit the Trevor Ariza Wall.

Since he's been back: 23% FG, 4.5 PPG

He started out the year on fire scoring double figures in the first 9/10 games. I think he's hit several rookie walls honestly, but this last stretch of games is the worst he's played all year. It's not a coincedence that it came after that vicious body slam courtesy of Ariza.

I'd like to see Rudy bulk up a little. He's never going to be built like Dwight Howard, but he looks really frail. I mean, 6'6" 185? We've seen his athleticism in the open court and on back door alley oops, but he doesn't have enough strength to get to the basket. As long as he's physcially weak, he'll be a 3 point shooting one trick pony. I mean, he does some other things reasonably well like pass the ball and he even has his moments on defense. But to take his game to the next level he's going to have to get stronger physically. I'd like to see what he could do at about 205 lbs.

Good comparison. He really does look like Derek Anderson. Hopefully he'll snap out of this before the playoffs.

Yes, all the jumping he had to do in the dunk contest really did him in. If only Pau would have thrown that ball right!

Ever wonder why traveling makes you tired? I mean, most of the time they are sitting in an airplane or sitting in a bus. I know riding in a car or plane can make you sleepy, but it seems that people talk about travel as though they are chalking up the wagons and hiking it cross country on foot.
Maybe you'd have to experience it to understand.

Michael Phelps was more exhausted from the travel and other stuff arranged by his agent than he ever was swimming. Travel can be terrible. I, too, don't know why though.
