In defense of Oakland, few people showed up that vigil and the ones that did were from some cult or something called Uhuru Movement.

The fine people in Oakland did hold a vigil for the fallen cops and several hundereds showed up for that.

LOL, the word means freedom in Swahili, so it's the "freedom movement."

If anyone hasn't noticed, I feel so strongly about this subject, as my father has been a police officer for 25 years. Him and a few of the other department members, on their off day today, will be driving down to Oakland to take part in the funeral prosession tomorrow. This is totally on their dollar, and only to show support for the fallen officers. I'm really not trying to target anyone with my rage against "people who hate cops", but I see the other side. I see my father who works his ass off to take care of people on a daily basis, who loves his job and who loves doing the right thing. yes their are officers who let the power go to their heads, but I really do believe it isn't as many as some may think. A lot of officers get rage from people for doing nothing more than trying to protect them. They don't have the option of who or what calls they respond to, and they are required by law to give service to everyone in need. It becomes frustrating for me to read a guy say "I hate cops", when I very well know he someday may need the service he rails against. Will he appreciate it then? Yes, absolutely. I really think the ignorance needs to stop, and the self awareness needs to prevail. We as a people need to stop with the self importance as if society needs to fit into our daily lifes, and realize we are a small clog and we need to fit into society. Unfortunately a strong police force is needed in todays world, as we saw in Oakland this week. I wish it didn't have to be that way, as that would mean as a people we would have succeeded. This just isn't the case, I just think maybe we need to have a little more admiration for what these officers do for us.

I think certain areas with high crime should have the military, not the police patrol them. Yes, I'm talking about the ghetto. The ghetto...talkin' bout the ghetto!

I feel ya...Cops doing their job correctly isnt newsworthy (duh). There are millions of interaction between cops and civilians every day. What do we get in the news...maybe 1 or 2 badly conducted encounters a month??? Im sure their is much more shadyness in other professions...but cops have guns. People being power hungry in other professions dont.

I love my cop friend...he lied for me so I didnt have to get my tint removed :ghoti:

Grew up in a Law Enforcement family, too. I can't stand idiot cops who give a bad reputation to all the cops out there who do their job the right way.

    Okay.

    Terrific.

Yes. The majority of cops are corrupt assholes on a power trip who do more than their fair share of profiling and stereotyping. I also have a grudge the fucktards who declare weed illegal and spend shittons of money trying to fight it, while a zillion bottles of booze (which is much more dangerous than weed) are sold every fucking day.

You realize what the word "majority" means right?...as in more than half.

I live in a relatively remote area compared to the rest of the country. If the cops here are shitheads, I can only imagine what places like Florida, Texas, New York, L.A., and Washington are like.

I love when people from relatively remote areas say they're from the ghetto to try to sound cool.
