After the game, Kenny was commending the Blazers for shooting 60% but Barkley played it off saying everyone shoots well against the Suns.
It's plain simple. Barkley watches the Blazers 2 or 3 games a year, spread out, and those are usually games the Blazers are matched up with some elite team, which often we end up on the short end of the stick of, and when he announces, he shows that.

BTW, Barkley said something tonight I do agree with: Oden has been in the league for 154 games - he is NOT a freaking rookie!
Explain this one to me -- I don't follow. He's not a rookie because he flew on a plane with the team for a season? He absorbed the games via osmosis?
That doesn't make much sense to me. Being out of college doesn't mean that a player is no longer a rookie. Being a rookie is determined by actually being available to play in games. Greg was hurt for a whole season, including a preseason. 154 games is a fabricated--or at least irrelevant--number. Ed O.
Guys, you need thicker skins Of all the teams battling for the playoffs, Portland is by far the youngest. If it wasn't the Blazers most all of you would be saying the same thing. Young teams. historically, have been really inconsistent. Of all the teams racing for that last spot, Portland probably does have the best chance of losing it because they are young. It certainly doesn't mean they will though. If they had lost last night I think the team might have felt the pressure more than say Dallas or a more experienced team. As for Barkley's comments on running. DAMN RIGHT WE SHOULD. Our home vs road point totals are ridiculous. We score so much more at home because we push the tempo. Why in the world, with our roster, don't we do that all the time????
He said something completely different a few weeks ago. Don't read a whole lot into what Barkley says.
Because it backfires as often as not. When you run and push the ball, your turnovers increase. On the road, with the home team typically allowed to get away with more reaching and contact, if we emphasize running and pushing over limiting turnovers, we turn the ball over. This leads to the home team getting out on the break, dunking and getting the crowd into it.
Of course it does. This is the right way to play for a young team as this is. You play controlled to minimize mistakes and let your great closer finish the games off when they are close - and it worked remarkably well for Portland. I am willing to bet that in a year or two, with more experience - you will see this team running more on the road as well - and winning more. Walk before you soar to the sky.
Cool. So last season doesn't count against his rookie contract? So he has to wait an extra year to become a FA? He didn't receive the automatic pay increase for being a 2nd year player? Oden gains all the contractual benefits of being a 2nd year player...there is nothing fabricated or irrelevant about that.
Incorrect. Contractually, Oden is in all ways a 2nd year player. (IE salary, determining when he reaches free agency, etc) Making him eligible for the ROY was just a PR stunt.
