This works: http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=cd4lry Bosh for Jackson / Maggette / B. Wright toss in a pick too
Bosh would be nice, but... who do we trade? They certainly won't want any of Jackson, Maggette or Crawford's contract, so the trade needs to start with Biedrins or Monta. Since, Bosh is PF, it's mostly likely that Biedrins will be involved. Then, they will want as many young talents as possible, and Randolph will be the center piece Toronto wants. And, we hope we can convince Toronto to take Wright and number of wing players instead. Fortunately for us, we do have number of good young shooters like Morrow, Marco and Azubuike, and when they are all healthy, we will not be able to find minutes for them. Heck, we have to sit healthy Crawford to give Morrow a half decent minutes. Then, can we keep Bosh? Unless we redo 07 PO run, I think the chance is not good. Unlike normal years, tons of teams have caproom to sign a max contract or two, and players like Wade or Bosh actually can shop teams around. To me, it will be a pricey gamble, which will only last a year, and the risk of losing Bosh is significant. Unless Bosh comes cheaper (like Maggette/Crawford + Wright + one of wing players + pick(s)), I will pass...
We might lose Bosh, but we could use his expiring contract money to sign another big name player in free agency that year. If we get Bosh, what happens to Randolph? Do we trade Jackson and make Randolph a three? And would we include Wright in the deal?
Even if Bosh's contract goes out, I don't think we will have enough caproom to sign a max deal Let's assume that we traded Bosh for Biedrins, Wright and Azubuike. Monta: 11 Crawford: 10.8 Maggette: 9.6 Jackson: 8.5 Turiaf: 4 Randolph: 2 Belinelli: 2.4 Morrow: ? Just those 7 players alone, salary will be over 48 mils. Then, you add Morrow, two first rounders, and rest of roster... the salary for 2010-2011 will be around 55 mils. This year's caproom is 58 mils, and given the economic situation, I seriously doubt that cap will jump significantly. As a matter of fact, we will be lucky not to have cap shrinkage. We might be able to get some significant cap space by trading Jackson, Maggette or Crawford (thanks again for Jackson's extension), but then, who in the right mind would trade their contracts for 10 mils expiring contract?
Yeah, totally. I guess Kwan is assuming that it would something like Beans/Marco/Wright for Bosh or something. Bosh is 14 mils and Beans is 10 so there is a way to do that. But if we could use Mags as the weight instead, then we could combine his 10 mils with the other prospects. That way, if Bosh leaves, it's like we're spending the prospects to get rid of Mags, which I'd do. Mags/Crawford/Marco/Wright for Bosh/filler even if Bosh walks, we still get huge cap relief without losing Beans/Monta/Randolph/Morrow which are my 4 most essential players to the club's future Of course this is why trades like this don't usually happen because from Toronto's perspective they'd rather have the cap relief themselves, or else Randolph/Monta/Beans which we don't want to give up.
The Raps wouldn't be able to trade Bosh without him signing an extension to go along with the deal, I presume. In that case you're looking at giving up Biedrins, a good shooting guard, and a good pick, probably.
Agreed. I think the Raps would demand Beans- he and Bargs would make a really nice frontcourt. We've got the Beans to give, we've got the good pick to give, we've got SGs but the question is which one would the Raps take moreso than which one would we give. Colangelo is reportedly a big Belinelli fan but would we give him up? You can bet we'd want to dump Crawford here. There's also Azu, Morrow, Mags (more of a SF though and pretty expensive plus I think Nellie likes him). Seems like a lot to give. Then again, it's Bosh. And we'd have a lineup of something like Monta, Jack, Randolph, Bosh, Mags, Turiaf, Wright (?), Azu, and maybe Beli if he doesn't get traded in the deal.
I think the Raps would take Crawford. He is the kind of scoring spark the team needs, especially in Bosh's absence.
That could be a nice team they would field. Calderon, Crawford, ????, Bargs, Beans + two mid-lotto picks.
Well I don't think they'd let Marion walk if they were to trade Bosh, so Calderon, Crawford, Marion, Bargs, and Biedrins. But that lineup has a problem--who is the first option? Second? Edit: the extra lottery pick makes it easier to deal with that issue. Maybe make it a three way deal and somehow flip Crawford + filler and the better pick for Redd or something.
I'd stay away from Bosh if I was the Warriors. I think you'd have a hard time re-signing him, and I think you'd have to hurt your team too much to make the trade. Unless Toronto gets desperate, in which case you might be able to work something out. What makes you guys think he'd even be good for the W's? He's already on a talented team in Toronto, and they can't even make the playoffs in the Leastern Conference. I think that says something.
Bosh is an okay player, but he's not a difference maker. Give Randolph some time and he'll do the same for us. Plus Brandon has potential to be a low post threat and neither of them will be getting Max money anytime soon. Bosh is not totally at fault but look at how that team has just fallen apart while he's still healthy.
Bosh is a great player and would be a great fit for the Warriors. This is where losing the Al Harrington 2010 expiring contract hurts. From the Warriors perspective, I'd do the deal if we don't have to give up Randolph-AB-Ellis. Am willing to give up BWright, a pick, and Crawford or Maggette. I think Toronto would've gone for BWright, a pick, Harrington's 2010 expiring K, and Crawford/filler. Right now, we don't have enough to get it done without giving up a keeper and I think Kwan is on the right track about the salary cap issues unless you deal AB or Ellis. BTW it's for your sig.
