Last night during the Nuggets-Spurs game the announcers kept saying Melo has to be a long shot MVP candidate for his 4th quarter heroics and his ability to carry Denver on his back to win games. Also on ESPN today the broadcaster said "Lebron is proving to be the next Jordan once again with his game winning shot to beat the buzzer. The media needs to give Lebrons balls some breathing room. The kid hits 1 game winner out of 20 and the media is all over him.Melo has hit 9-14 and he still gets ridiculed Do you agree with the mvp case?
His team is underachieving even with all the injuries. His carried them on the back but i don't think he's going to win. It's going to go between Nash, elton brand and chauncey billups.Next season Melo for mvp

That team is too talented. He's not really "carrying" them like most candidates on mediocre teams. He is scoring alot, but that team is still very talented and they're what, 39-30?
LeBron's team is worsre, and he averages superioir stats. Plus, last week the media were calling him a "choker" becuse he was so unclutch, and it was the story of the week. Yes Carmelo is having a great year, but not as good as LeBron's, Nowitzki's, Kobes, Nash's...

Getting the clips to the playoffs and upping you're stats in basically everything deserves it.
What's wierd is...Carmelo Anthony only has the 22nd best effciency rating in the NBA...slightly behind Richard Jefferson...He's been great this year but he is not the NBA's most valuable player.
Efficiency ratings are crap in my eyes. Carmelo is behind RJ for example, but who wuold you rather take. I bet Dwight Howard is up there as well, and he isn't a top 20 player in the NBA
Melo has been leading his team basically since has entered the League. I think he is a candidate for leading his team to a good record. Anyone who does that is but he has like a 1% chance of winning MVP lol
Everyone is riding Lebron's nuts and its getting really bad. Melo could make a run at it but the Nuggets need to get a fourth seed or lower for him to have a chance at it. You have to have a good team to win MVP. Just look past at teams and stats where other players should have gotten MVP's but there teams just weren't good enough.EDIT: Lebrons nut part from somethign that was censored
There is no way in hell Melo should be MVP. He isn't near leading league in scoring, isn't up there in assists or rebounds, and his team is underachieving. He has very talented players around him. Kobe is leading a crap team to playoffs, Nash is making people no one heard of before this year into all stars, LeBron is leading a fairly average team to homecourt advantage with stats nearly unheard of, etc...Only think Melo has going for him in terms of MVP talk is his efficiency in clutch, but even that is overshadowed by Kobe and his huge 4th quarters.
If Wade is getting mvp consideration then not saying Melo does is total disrespect. Its all because of the media in my opinion. They jumped right on the fact that he had issues with Larry Brown and that his friend left weed in his car.But they NEVER mentioned that Carmelo wrote a childrens book this past summer. That went unoticed by pretty much everyone. Melo is a very busy man and he took the little free time he had to write a childrens book. Whats not to respect about that?<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Is Melo averaging 30-7-7 on 48% shooting?</div>Nope. He is shooting ABOVE 48% :winkglasses: <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>There is no way in hell Melo should be MVP. He isn't near leading league in scoring,</div>Actually he is 7th in the league at 27 points per game. That is better than Duncan,Garnett,Dirk,T-Mac,Vince Carter, ect ect ect<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>That team is too talented. He's not really "carrying" them like most candidates on mediocre teams. He is scoring alot, but that team is still very talented and they're what, 39-30?</div>Saying he has not carried them is nothing but pure disrespect.First of all the Nuggets lost Nene for the ENTIRE season. He brings so much to this team losing him made me question if we will even make the playoffs. Earl Boykins has missed 9 games, Marcus Camby missed 24 games, Kenyon Martin missed 20 games,That is his starting all star caliber center, His starting power forward, His backup center, and there spark plug off the bench missing a significant amount of games. Yet Melo STILL has Denver 9 games over .500. How many players in the league can lead there team without there 3 best big men to a 39-30 record? Not many at all.Melo is also one of the best leaders in the league. He is proving it with Denver this season. Take away Martin,Camby,Nene, and Boykins and this is the Denver roster: Francisco ElsonEduardo NajeraCarmelo AnthonyDermarr JohnsonAndre MillerI will tell you right now that supporting cast is worse than the Lakers without Kobe,Rockets without T-mac, and the Cavs without Lebron. But yet Melo lead them to a great record anyway. Not only has he carried them during the season but in the entire 4th quarter he virtually rapes teams. What else does he need to prove to the critics before they give him respect?Better shot selection: Done. He has not been shooting stupid shots this season. He is taking it to the rack much more. He is among league leaders on free throws per game.Being less selfish: Done. At times he is even to unselfish. sometimes he has an open look and passes it off to his teamates.Better defense: His defense is no longer "bad" Karl has done an awesome jb shaping Melo into a respectful defensive playerAvoid off court issues: Done.Improve his attitude overall: DoneNow he is proving that he is one of the most clutch players in the NBA period.Anthony in his two-plus NBA seasons has made 10 out of 16 game-winning or game-tying shots in the final 24 seconds of a game. His .625 shooting percentage with the game on the line is more than twice the league average of .294.He has lead Denver to the playoffs 2 seasons in a row and is going to get them a 3rd seed in the playoffs this year. He has never not been in the playoffs so far.
So you basically said that he's up there with LeBron or Kobe, but you didn't prove why he deserves the award over either of them.
Yes I did.He not only deserves it for the steller numbers he is putting up. But the fact that he carried Denver to the playoffs. He is a top 7 candidate.
Yeah top 7, Kobe is top 3 and LeBron is top 5 at the least, Carmelo deserves to win the award over many other players but he's not going to, as you said there's at least 6 players who are more deserving of the MVP trophy.
Ballaholic- Again, you prove my point. He has done very little over what other candidates have done. His numbers are nothing spectacular, he isn't top 5 in any category like the others are, and his team, while players have been injured, has been healthy enough throughout season to ge tto the record they are at now. As for supporting cast, no way in hell is it worse than Rockets, Lakers, Cavs, etc... Camby, Boykins and Martin haven't been hurt enough for me to say they were close to non-factors this season.I'd say top 10 candidate, but he shouldn't be even mentioned with Nash, Kobe, or Bron.
