I was bored so I started randomly typing in NBA player names to see how many Google hits each had.

    "Greg+Oden" 746,000 hits

    "LaMarcus+Aldridge" 634,000 hits

    "Brandon+Roy" 8,860,000 hits

    "Kobe+Bryant" 8,440,000 hits

The reason I even bothered posting this is obvious.....how does or man B-Roy have more hits K*be Bryant?

I know it means nothing, just found it quite odd...did I incorrectly search the names?

I made sure to "" 's and +'s so it searched for the whole name not just Brandon, which is obviously a more common name than Kobe, which would have led to more hits naturally.

A big part of it is that "Kobe" is a household name. You don't have to add "Bryant" for people to know who you are talking about. Whereas almost nobody would know who you are talking about if you just started discussing "Brandon."

Plus, there's also the nickname issue. A LOT of people on the internet don't call him the same thing his momma does.

It's quite simple. Brandon Roy > Kobe.

When you type just Kobe though you get like Japanese Cities, Kobe steak, and all that stuff, not just "Kobe Bryant".

And the whole Nickname thing is pretty irrelevant. I don't think Kobe has widley enough used nickname, to attract even 100,000 additional hits. Most just refer to him as Kobe.
