http://omg.yahoo.com/blogs/crush/miley-cyrus-grows-up/152?nc In other words: I'm a famous rich celebrity, so silly things like statutory rape laws don't apply to whomever *I* want to have sex with. Tee-hee! Buy my CD! Someone should send Child Services over there.
You'd need to show that they're having sex to go for statutory rape charges. I don't think there's any law against dating a person under the age of consent.
Yeah, Hollywood and her own father have whored her out at the earliest time they could. Why should a 20 year old not get to take a shot too?
What's wrong with Western Civilization is that a 20 year old could be sent to PRISON for nailing a 16 year old when they are both in love with each other. There is absolutely nothing disgusting about that biologically, they are both young adults. We have gone way over-board in our society with this statutory rape stuff, even back in the 50's Elvis dated a 13 year old (Pricilla) and nobody blinked. 16 is young, but it's an age when many girls throughout the history of civilization have been married off. This is just another example of how our thinking and perceptions can be warped by our own laws and terms. In our minds 18+ is an adult 17 or younger is a child. It doesn't really work that way.
I"m sure parents like that law, because it gives them a way of preventing their teenage daughters from going out with older guys....though personally, I don't know if it's really safer for them to date teenage boys their own age...since teens can be rather psycho. But if you put a 20 year old and a 16 year old on a deserted island, outside of society and filmed them...and found out they were doing it, would you really see that as being "statutory rape"? It would just be a sexually mature male and female of the same species having intercourse. People talk about that like its pediphilia.
16 years olds, while physically may look fully mature, are not mentally fully mature. Mentally they are children. I know at that age they think they are adults, but they aren't (and yes there are exceptions to this, but, IMO, a high percentage of 16 years olds fit that description). They are young and can be manipulated. If I had a 16 year old daughter, and a 40 year old starting hanging around and having sexual activity with my daughter . . . if the laws didn't get him, I would. Where the line is between 40 or 20 is decided through laws. I believe an 18 year old having sex with a 16 year old is OK . . . but a 21 year old is not OK. Works for me. Where do you draw the line . . . OK for a 35 year old to "spoil" a 16 year old and seduce her into having sex?
