Re: Bader Popped His Knee in the 1st

Doesn't explain why he wasn't punching, but might explain why he didn't posture up much.

Well isn't it hard to muster up anything on your punches if your knee is gone?

In someone's guard? I don't think it is much of an issue.

I think it was a testament to how good of a wrestler this guy can be to still shoot in and take down a UFC-level 205er at will with torn ligaments in your knee.

I can see him throwing punches, I just don't think there would be anything on them. Maybe the pain was bad? I don't know. He found something that worked for him in that fight. His wrestling was fuckin' good.

That is Chuck in our avatar, right?

Gut + board shorts = Chuck Liddell. You are correct, sir.

Marrero is the kind of fighter who makes the other guy look like crap, even in a win, so I don't blame Bader totally, but it seemed like he was one-dimensional in his take down, go for submission game plan. If he had've attempted ground and pound he would've fared better and the fight would've been more entertaining. But who am I to say such things?

I wonder how much pain a tear like that actually causes. I've seen guys in the NBA blowout their knees and theyre crumpled on the floor for a while rolling around in agony. On the other hand you have guys in the UFC going on to finish fights with injuries like that.

I tore an ACL before, had extreme pain for about 5-10 minutes then I was able to drive home. Found out my ACL was torn and would need surgery. Limped on it for like 2 weeks and was able to walk fine until my surgery, so I walked on it torn for about 2 months before I got fixed up.

I think it also depends on how you do it too.
