Dana White's tirade [update: White apologizes]

    In a Sherdog article posted today Loretta Hunt offered her opinion on the UFC's recent move to bar some managers and agents from being backstage during events when their fighters are competing (supposedly).

    Dana White's heated retort begins around the 4.30 mark. However, during his rant, he doesn't outright deny much of what Hunt wrote about, but rather launches into personal attacks (which is to say he is a weak debater or, more likely, the criticism he's getting is justifiable and he doesn't know how to spin it his way). He claims that it is and has always been up to the fighters to decide who they want backstage with them but doesn't indicate whether he has gone ahead and banned some people regardless of what the fighters want.

    You'll notice now you can't see the video on Youtube. The UFC has pulled it, but you can still see it on Break.com and elsewhere.

    GLAAD and some others have complained to the UFC for what was said, calling his rant bigoted and sexist, or at least unprofessional.

    I've seen some people say "you can't just tell us it's Dana being Dana" but its EXACTLY what you'd expect if you criticize him. He takes business personally and lashes out ferociously at detractors. Its the style that's made him so successful and will eventually lead to his downfall.

    Dana will never have a downfall, imo. The man knows how to run a business.

    UFC basically has a monopoly in the MMA business, unless a serious competitor comes into the picture Dana White can do whatever he wants. He can make mistakes and it still wouldn't hurt the UFC.
