Re: Bellator Fighting Championships: BFC I (Apr. 3rd) Notes on the event: -- Bellator's inaugural event features 3/4 lightweight quarter-finals and 3/4 featherweight quarter-finals. Next week the remaining lightweight and featherweight bouts will occur. -- Winners in the opening round of the tournament will go home with $25,000 before bonuses and/or sponsor payouts. No word on what the losers or the non-tournament fighters will earn. They will advance to the semi-finals where they have a chance at earning $50,000 more with a win, and the right to advance. -- Lightweight tournament participant Eddie Alvarez is considered one of the top lightweights in the world and is the star of their promotion at this point in time. He faces a relatively unknown Northern Irish fighter named Greg Loughran (18-11). Loughran has faced several UFC prospects, including Terry Etim and Andre Winner. -- BFC will air on ESPN Deportes, a Spanish language version of ESPN. ESPN stands for Entertainment Sports Programming Network, so essentially ESPN Deportes is Entertainment Sports Programming Network Sports. Ok... -- The events will air in two-hour time slots on tape delay. Four events are planned thus far.

Wow... Alvarez was wobbled twice by hard punches from Loughran... his striking was wide open in this bout. If he wasn't taking the fight seriously he almost paid for it.
