While I love what we see from Oden - remember that before his GSW injury - he was even more fluid on offense. I am willing to bet that by the time the playoffs come - he will regain that fluidity as well. This team is not done peaking even for this year.
I believe they are peaking. The true test will be the two texas games. We haven't been good on the road against western conference playoff teams all year. If Portland rolls in, and kicks the shit out of Houston and San Antonio by 20 plus like they have the last few teams, it is going to be really hard to not turn the "contend now" lightswitch to the on position, and hold on to your shorts!
Fully agree that the Texas games are going to show how truely well we're playing right now. If we blew the Spurs out at home, I think we've got a great chance to win in their place. The Houston game is going to be tough though. HCA would be such a sweet ending to the regular season.
This is easily some of the best basketball we've played in years... but we can play better. Rudy could be healthy. Batum could be healthy. Oden could be in shape. Roy could be healthy... we're so banged up right now, it's crazy, and a little frightening.
If this isn't peaking I'll still take it. Their level of play ever since their last road trip has defied all my expectations for how they would perform through the stretch run. Good stuff.
If Portland blows out Houston and San Antonio on the road, they're championship contenders. I don't see that happening, but I'd love to see them pull out close wins.
When I saw the title of this thread, I thought it was going to be a post about Jason Quick and closed blinds. BNM
i think he was more or less asking, are we getting hot at the right time? teams want to play their best ball going into the playoffs, and i think we are doing that. playing the best basketball so far in the year, at the right time. love it!
We're several years from peaking, and that's if we never make any additions. 2010-2019 will be known as the Blazers' decade. Other NBA teams will also play games.
Can we all not go into suicide mode like usual if we lose tomorrow against Houston though lol? It's pretty funny though how the Blazers can control our moods and everything.. But if we DO end up trashing them, feel free to make PORTLAND IS CHAMPIONSHIP CONTENDER threads
I can't quite bring myself to even daydream about that possibility ... I'd love to see a win tomorrow, but hell, at this point even seeing a hard fought, competitive, close lost will be OK (not great mind you). If by some miracle they do manage to blow Houston and then San Antonio out of their own gyms that's going to take awhile for me to process -- I'm not sure I'm ready to wrap my brain around what that implies.
Peaking implies we are currently at/around the apex and its all downhill from here...how the fuck could anyone say that about the Blazers?
