.....that tells me that he was there to look at a player(s) from U-Conn and/or Villanova. I wonder who?
I am guessing he wanted to see someone in person in high-pressure situation in addition to all the tons of tape he has on them anyway. Once he has done so in the final-four - it probably was enough and having to watch another game is not needed. I doubt he would have left if the Blazers already purchased tickets for the championship game...
I don't think Lawson is going to be a star at the next level and it's hard to say if he'll be able to play in a non run-n-gun system, but I think he's probably got as good of a shot as succeeding as DJ Augustin, or a similiarly short statured point with a good 3 point shot and a pass first mentality. Hell, if he's available in the middle to late first round I wouldn't be upset if KP took a flier on him.
KP played under Roy Williams at Kansas for two seasons after Larry Brown left Lawrence. Perhaps he got all the info he wanted to get, or perhaps he was just there to support his former coach.
IMO, he's looking for an upgrade to Frye. That's been our weak spot this year, when both Greg and Joel are in foul trouble. If Raef had been at all healthy this season, he would have gotten plenty of minutes. I personally don't follow college ball at all, so I wouldn't know who KP might be looking at, but if I were trying to fill a hole on this team, that's where I'd be putting my attention.
iirc, if we're going to have any ability to use Frye in a S&T, we have to have his cap hold applied to our cap until he signs with another team. His cap hold is around 10M (iirc). That eliminates any ability we have to make 'lopsided trades', since we'd be over the salary cap. Frye will be renounced.
