Sad. Stranglely, I misread the headline too, though I didn't read Martell Webster, but Marvin Williams. Either would have been a shock.
It would have been a sick joke if you had taken out Marvin and just put "Webster found dead in hotel room". It would have been sorta funny to see how people reacted. But honestly though, that's a shame.
It is sad. Marvin Webster was HUGELY underrated in the days of Walton, Jabbar, Lanier, Gilmore, and even Sikma on the Sonics. Averaged 14 pts/12.5 Rbs a game during their 78 playoff run. Perhaps made Walton's return in Game 1 of the 2nd round harder than it could have been, causing Bill to finally put that foot down for good. Somehow, he never was able to keep it up with the Knicks. Tipping a 40oz for the Human Eraser.
at first i thought it said martell webster, then i thought it said marvin williams....this guy was before my time but RIP
A freakishly tall and angular center with very long arms who could block a shot right through the roof. He blocked so many shots, and with such aplomb, that he earned the nickname "The Human Eraser.' He didn't really have a polished game, much like Oden, but he made his mark.
