Coach of the year, I don't care what anybody says! Before the Admiral's eyes we torn down the old ship, the SSPURs. What San Antonio wouldn't give for a young star forward like LaMarcus! 50
i think coach of the year needs to go to rick adelman. dealing with ron artest, having tmac in and out of the lineup before finally losing him for the season, battier missing the start of the year, trading away the starting pg midseason, and still being in position for homecourt in the first round? sounds like coach of the year to me.
Sorry rocketeer this is a fairy-tell story, were gonna Roll into the playoffs and blaze the doubters a new one!
Adelman is not a bad choice, but I would give it to Nate. Youngest teams in the Playoff's. Improvement of about 10 games over last year. Also had injuries to deal with. Many coaches deserve it along with Nate, but I am hard pressed to think of someone who deserves it more. How many bad streaks has this team broken this year?
This young Portland team has an old soul, they wowed me with their composure tonight in Texas. Nate has progressed their experience level pretty handily and it shined tonight baby!
Rick and Nate are both very good choices. NBA.com did a poll a few days ago and Cav coach Mike Brown got the vast majority of the votes.
TEXAS is a big state. The Rockets are a storied franchise, they are always expected to dominate. WE, on the other hand are underestimated due to our in-experience, meanwhile were playing at the level of a top tier team. Thanks to Nate and co that is. .
Being the second youngest team in the league and possibly getting HCA in the first round is COY in my opinion.
You know I have bitched a lot about Nate over the years. But I have to say, look at the record. Impressive. They have got better every year, and perhaps in years past, the problem was the players just weren't that good.
I like nate for the most part, but I do have 2 main issues with him that come to mind: 1.) our lack of switching on pick and rolls 2.) his tendency to pull our big guys to soon (in my opinion) and not use all their fouls. The second one isn't a huge deal, but I can't see how a coach can win COY when his team doesn't know how to defend the most common play in basketball.
Adelman. No question. I'm still not sold on Nate. I think you could let most anyone coach a blossoming Roy and LMA to 50 wins this year.
Easy to say, impossible to prove. Same could be said about Adelman, it's not like he doesn't have any talent on his team, a vet team.
Choosing Nate would follow the pattern of the last two years, when Byron Scott and before that Sam Mitchell were chosen, each for turning a young team with potential into a division title winner. While Nate probably won't win the division, if the Blazers finish the season with HCA that should be good enough.
Yeah? What about the rest of the 23 year olds on our roster? And in the western conference? Your comment is ridiculously wrong, IMO. I've been frustrated with Nate a few times, and have questioned him. Over the last month of the season, I'm willing to *gasp* admit I was wrong. Completely. What the Blazers are doing right now is a byproduct of Nate's job as our coach.
