Watching the team beat Memphis a few nights ago when they really had no right to reminded me of the Spurs - a poised team finding a way to win - cool and calm. And then the next night, they fall behind the Spurs by 19 and do it again. Steady.

We just may be seeing the changing of the guard and the new version of the Spurs emerging before our eyes.

I've been waiting for the Spurs to take a dive... they're due. They've been a good team for faaar too long.

Yup. No surprise when you realize that we have a SG made from the same cloth that Duncan is made of. Steady, not too flashy, never gets rattled. A quite assassin.

The most amazing thing about Roy is that you look at his game - and it is just fundamentally right. Manage the pace, pass when you need to, score when you need. Slash - check. Mid-range jumper - check, 3 pt. jumper - check. Post-up on smaller players - check. Go to the right, go to the left, dunk, play fast, play slow.

    He is the small fundamental.

Yup, Roy is almost the ideal star...you know he'll always make the smart play, won't get out of control and won't lock out his teammates. In fact, pretty much all the superstars have that in common, so it's another illustration that Roy may well be at that level.

That, for example, is a big reason why Carmelo Anthony is a star but not a superstar. You can't always count on him to make the right play and he sometimes has trouble playing within the system and with his teammates,

Ironically, I made the same typo when I was entering my response. Some times the fingers get ahead of the brain.

    Sixteen years,
Sixteen banners united over the field
    Where the good shepherd grieves.
    Desperate men, desperate women divided,
Spreading their wings 'neath the falling leaves.

    Fortune calls.
I stepped forth from the shadows, to the marketplace,
Merchants and thieves, hungry for power, my last deal gone down.
She's smelling sweet like the meadows where she was born,
On midsummer's eve, near the tower.

    The cold-blooded moon.
The captain waits above the celebration
Sending his thoughts to a beloved maid
Whose ebony face is beyond communication.
The captain is down but still believing that his love will be repaid.

We are way more long and athletic than the Spurs of a couple years ago could ever dream of being.

As a project? Because Jrue is a LOOOOOOONNNNNNGGGGG way away from being NBA ready.

If KP is going to draft a point guard (again :banghead:) then he either needs to trade up and get Rubio (massive pipedream) or he needs to draft a guy who has played for a few years at the college level and will be more ready to jump in and contribute right away than all of these 'one and done' guys -- the only player that fits that bill seems to be Ty Lawson and I have major concerns about his size and his ability to run a half-court oriented offense.
