First, I just read the Lakers may have Andrew Bynum in the lineup tonight. I am pointing this out because the Lakers are one of the teams favored to win it all this year and Coach Phil wants to get his big bodies on court to be ready to match up against the Cleveland Cavaliers (and not because I just picked up Bynum in my Fantasy NBA league ). Source: Bynum to return vs. Nuggets http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=4053471&campaign=rss&source=NBAHeadlines Look at the Cleveland Cavs, who just got big bodies Ben Wallace back to team up with Big Z and Anderson Varejao. They already have a pretty good big body in LeBron James. Okay, I admit the Warriors don't have the big bodies to match up, but they got long bodies. We need to give up the basic small ball route, and go to the long bodies starting lineup. I'm not saying give up on small ball because that's still part of the team fabric, but it's time to start the long body lineup and get another big man or two. My starting long body lineup: PG - Jamal, Jax SG - Monta SF - Jax, AR, Buike (strong body) PF - BWright C - AB, Ronny, Kurz
BWright, AR, Beans, run triple stacks for Monta and Marco all day. Just like Rip and the Pistons in '04.
Big players are nice but we also lack something that both of those have- an all world player. Getting a Kobe or LeBron heals a lot of your wounds.
I doubt any FA like that will come to the Warriors. We had a shot with Mullin, but not with current W's management and coach. The only way we can get one, I believe, is through the draft. Ricky Rubio or bust!
My brother and I actually saw Bynum in a club in LA 2 weeks ago. He was dancing in the corner with no limps or hitches. I heard on the radio that the Lakers weren't too happy with him for partying lately instead of focusing on rehab.
I wouldn't even want Bynum. I don't like small ball but I do like a fast game. I think we can still play big with Beans/BWright/AR. Guys like Bynum will definately be stronger but with thte length and speed our front line will have we can front them (much more effectively that how Harrington played) and have the speed to recover and double when the ball does go down low. I just think we can get away from small ball without completely changing philosophy and playing a grindit out, half court game. Otherwise, we would need to completely change the roster. I don't think any of our core guys, except Beli, can excell on a Cleveland style team.
That's great. I dunno how to interpret those things. We see them partying and think they're not rehabbing because they're placing more emphasis on pleasure than work. There was that news about Bynum at the Playboy Mansion and lifting a bunny on his shoulder, too. Moreover, we don't see them working out, so it makes it easier to think they're slacking off. Maybe that's why I was able to snag him off the waiver wire in Fantasy League. Bynum did a decent job last night with 16 pts on 7-11 shooting, 7 reb, 1 ast, 2-4 fts and I got him in my lineup again tonight.
Actually, I agree with what you're saying. I'm not saying we make our lineup out like the Lakers or Cavs, and go to a more deliberate and grind it out style. I think PHX has shown that the drastic change does not work. The GSW philosophy is still the run and gun. What I rather see is what we're seeing now with injuries forcing Nelson to play his bigs together. Maybe we'll see AB and Turiaf work together again on court for some extended minutes. Eventually, I like to see us have a front line like the Celtics who are more long bodies than big ones.
